I'm sure when the dropship doors opened the Davion Team leader said "Shit....look at all that open space!"
The LCAF started in the NE corner of the map and made for a small hill/tree line area nest to a moderate sized lake. Davion forces went right into the SW hills hoping, I believe, that I would close on him in the tight confines of the canyons. I parked my Alicorn MkVI on the wonderful sandy beach near the cabana bar on the east side of the lake but well within gauss range of the ridge line between us and the Davion force. While my BA held flank security, my Longbow, Penetrator and Alacorn MkVII moved up to cover the ridge and the valley I knew he had to come out of.
The Davion Centurian exposed himself (not in that way you pervs....) on the ridgeline and took a fine beating from all LCAF mechs and Vees. No crits yet but he was mising about 1/2 of his armor now. The Cent scored armor hits to my Penetrator before wheeling around and fleeing over the level 2 ridge.
The Davions brought out the Axeman next, and again Lyran forces were able to focus all fire on it, shaving lots and lots of armor off. It again scored armor hits on my Penetrator which was now in the mid yellow armor wise. Still at this point it was 1 Davion against 4 Lyrans, and we were doing more, much more, damage per turn. As all this is going on, the Davion Pegasus, in a move that has angered the IS-PETA bunny huggers, began a systematic ecological cleansing of the nearby ferns and fona. Not sure why other than this hover pilot was a nutcase (as evidenced later) or a "Sparky".
The Cent came back into the fight on the ridge while the Axeman backed out of the "BB killing zone" behind a Level 2 hill. His BA was also cresting the ridge south of the Cent. The Ajax was still about a turn away from entering the fight.
Well I believe my Penetrator and the Axeman fired each other up with lasers from range scoring yet more armor from each, but the Cent really paid for being "skylined". My Longbow hit him with 40 of 60 LRMs which shreaded the already cored armor, then I hit with 2 of 3 Gauss slugs, and both Hvy Gauss slugs. When the dust settled on the ridge, the Cent was minus most of it's armor, it's RAC-5, 1 Gyro Hit, 1 Engin hit, and when it fell it was minus it's Targeting Computer. His Cent did score hits on my MkVII and damaged the drive system. His Pegasus nailed one of my Fenrir SPLAS guys striping him naked of armor.
The Ajax finially made it to the party, too late mind you but he made it. The cent tried to stand but stepped on a spent Gauss ball and went down hard, sending it's pilot into dreamland. The Axeman stayed put behind it's hill, out of Gauss LOS, and again traded shots with the Penetrator, who was backpeddling due to Davion BA on the field and the Ajax with LRMs. The Ajax fired at the MkVII scoring armor hits, while the Hover tank made a dash across the lake towing a waterskier, who was flipping the bird at the Alacorn parked by the cabana bar under a beach parasal. The skier was not seen again after the Alacorn sent 3 slugs downrange at the Ajax. LRM's and gauss BB's raked the Ajax while it unleased it's anger on the MkVII. Davion BA plinked at the Penetrator. Lyran BA scored hits on the drive system of the hover tank.
Next, his Axeman committed suicide. He walked/ran to the hex directly in from of my MkVII. Being a purdent tank crew they backed up and hammered 2 Hvy Gauss into his chest while the MkVI slammed 2 of 3 into him also. Infact, all Lyran units fired on the Axeman as he died in a heap of small, twisted ferro. The Pegasus and Davion BA cornholed my Penetrator killing the mech and the pilot. The Ajax blew the treads off the MkVII leaving it a pillbox. The Davion Cavalier BA got hammered by 40 LRM's leaving them useless.
The Ajax now charged the MkVII. It had tisue paper for front armor and it payed the price as the remaining Davion units, including the Cent who woke up from his nap, went after the Alacorn MkVII Hvy gauss tank that had hurt them so. The Ajax and Cent died doing this but they did manage to kill the MkVII crew in the process.
The remains of the Davion force then made for the Alacorn MkVI on the beach and proceeded to blow a tread off and destory the cabana bar with an errant shot. The Cavalier BA died to yet another LRM barrage, and the Hover tank was "Sunk" in the lake by the SPLAS Fenrir crew. The lone Davion BA trooper left was offered his life and safe passage off the field, but he charged the guns anyway and was blown to componet atoms.
