well i sent a email reply about the no zonematch thing... probably made it more complex then what it needed to be LOL. ( what happens when i reply before my regular pot of coffee)
in a nut shell, i had to fix it by overlaying a windows install over the one i had before. you got to move all things out of the ' my documents folder' before you do this however becuse the windows install will delete all things in there. including your faverate links etc.
at this time i was never able to trace down what exactly it was that caused this. but i do believe it is in windows XP and not in mercs... for some reason windows refuses to allow mercs to connect to the global server to get the game list. why or how i dont know. need a bigger egg head then i am to figure that one out....
when this happened to me i checked all windows settings and put ALL my internet settings on low in the security section and still didnt help. also if you just freshly installed windows again.. then make sure your built in firewall is turned OFF. you can do this by going to
control panel -
network connections -
local area connection ( or what ever you happen to have it named) -
click the properties button at the bottom. -
click the advanced tab at the upper right. -
make sure the box next to ' protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this compter from the internet' is UN checked.
if the steps above dont help then it is beyond my experiance. and would recomend a VERY BIG HAMMER! ( just make sure you only bust the cheap parts....)
