Folks,
Any idea how much this gem might be worth? I am looking at purchasing, but it is pricey...
BRITISH Enfield Model L42A1 SNIPER bolt-action rifle # AT7250 (7.62 NATO) mfg. by BSA Shirley in 1943. Excellent condition, with nearly full external finish. Very heavy barrel with half-stocked forend and added wooden cheek-piece on butt. Bolt mismatched but has correct 7.62mm extractor and functions just fine. Scope is # 22542 dated 1945 with excellent markings and clear optics, includes leather scope-caps and 1952-dated web sling. Not import-marked, rarely offered for sale.

Yeah - I drool every time I look at the pic...
If you have a chance in the next few days to ask about pricing with that description (for condition) that would be awesome. I am on the guys early warning sneak preview list, it has not sold yet and is now on his regular site , so it will probably not sell soon. It will have to be a serious buyer too as it is expensive.
I should take pics of my stuff and get them up on the web. I have a WW2 Mosin Nagant original sniper that is pretty sweet as well...

I’m still trying to get over the shock and aw from the cool light show that sites presenting. Man ,.. you do , do good work mate and have allot of potential in the makings.
If worked hard at it for the next decade or so I might be able to catch up with them web skills when I’m an old bloke . I’d probably need to nick some ideas from ya tho. But by that time you should have an A.I. ( artificial intelligence ) installed at your web page that would be greeting me and asking how I’m doing . Witch would be nice if were sexy female voice please. Anyway , I’m very impressed.
Oh , I learned a new word today .
Cheerio !

Steel, I've asked around our snipers and the general consensus seems to be "a bit expensive but about right". The main decider is the inclusion of the original and working sight.
My colleague at work did 32 years as an armourer in the Royal Marines and was the SBS armourer for about 5 of those years. He worked on the L42 series quite extensively. My own experience is limited to the 'Enforcer' and 'Envoy' versions.

Steel here's what I came up with The rifle started out as a WW II Sniper rifle. It was changed from .303 to Nato 7.62 some time in the late 50's. the barrel was changed as was the forestock cut down. It's not in it's WW II configuration. that would be worth more. The British did this to their rifles in the late 50's and early 60's But with the optics and all, $800 to $1000. That's just a guess. Not having the import marks help.
I sent another e-mail to see what marking he ment so more to folllow.

Thx guys...
Crickett,
Actually the WW2 snipers and the L42A1 are pretty close in value. The WW2 rifles may be valued more by collectors so they might pay more, and the L42A1 is still in use in some countries and not very commonly encountered... Non-import marked means it made it into the country avoiding normal customs routes...and generally makes a foreign weapon a bit more valuable.
I could have gotten an WW2 Enfield sniper from the same guy, but while I was thinking about the one to get it went - its price was $1950... He does have another for $2950. I might draw the line there...

Man! if I had one of those...
Hmmmm, I guess that's why I don't.
Some people really shouldn't own guns.
Or look at pictures of guns either...
