The last one is a pic if the T next to its old exoskeleton - quite a difference in size.

We have a LOT of Black Widows here as well. In the pring I will collect them for a research facility and send them off... ;)
This T is one of the medium sized ones and quite docile - although we do not handle her because if she jumped the dogs or cat would munch her... They really are quite interesting...you "manly men" are just a bunch of wussies...nothing but a bug.
(you should see the size of her fangs...) ;)

A funny story:
All of us who spend time out in the Hoolou are well versed in the art of waking in a docile manner - firstly, if woken in the night or early hours of the morning for say stag duty on OPs you don't want someone suddenly jumping up and raising their voice which may alert someone to your presence. Secondly, it saves you from a potentially bad day if you had something crawl in beside you during the night.
So one morning i woke to feel something slipping along the length of my leg above the line of my boots (sometimes you really have to wear your boots in your sleeping bag!), anyway I made sure not to agitate whatever it was as I leant across to a shovel just outside my bivvy, where-upon i proceeded to give wqhatever it was and my leg to boot some serious good news. Once I was fairly confident I had eliminated any further danger to myself, I jumped out of my sleeping bag and pulled away my trouser ties (elastics) and out fell the culprit - a Nokia 3110 on vibrate only mode  - it had fallen through a hole in my combat trousers and fallen to the bottom of my trouser leg probably as I was getting into my bag the previous night. Within 1/2 an hour, my lower leg was black'n'blue top to bottom, including two full-on hits on the side of my kneecap! Needless to say word got round very quickly and I heard just about every joke going by the end of the day: Is that a snake in your pants or are just glad to call me!? Hit me with my digging stick, hit me, hit me! Is it a snake, is it a spider, no it's just my mobile phone!!! And the list is almost endless, but when I look back on it I tell you I can't stop laughing to myself.
