What would you say are your 5 favorite movies of all time and why? After some hard thinking I came up with this list:


1. Seven Samurai --- The penultimate "Samurai" film with a fantastic story and great action. The only 3.5 hour film which I've seen which seemed too short.


2. The Empire Strikes Back --- Need I say more? One of the best told stories of a young man learning his way and of a mentor who wishes to guide him.


3. Amadeus --- F. Murray Abraham gives me goosebumps with his performance as Salieri. And of course the music is just astounding.


4. A Clockwork Orange --- Malcolm McDowell was born for the role of "Alex". I seriously believe that.

5. Lawrence of Arabia --- The ultimate epic which pefectly blends historical fact with psychology. And of course the cinematography is brilliant.

Great choices Softball! The 2nd half of Full Metal Jacket was good but the first half of the movie was the brilliant part.

Pulp Fiction is great with Resorvoir Dogs a very close 2nd when it comes to Tarantino flicks.

In no particular order, subject to change without notice, void where prohibited:

The Creature from the Black Lagoon - because when I was a kid the Creature was my favorite movie monster, and also because the movie is still entertaining to me today. Especially on DVD in Dolby MONO. :mrgreen:

Bringing Up Baby - Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Old school 'madcap' comedy at its finest.

The Valley of Gwangi - Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion animation may look cheesey compared to the high tech FX to which we've become accustomed, but I don't care, I still like it. Besides, how many movies do you see with cowboys and dinosaurs? Eh? Only one other that I know of, 'The Beast from Hollow Mountain', which is even older than Gwangi and therefore 'cheesier'.

Jaws - I dunno, every time I'm flipping through the channels and run across this movie, I watch it. So there. Show me the way to go home, I'm tired and I wanna go to bed...

Stand By Me - best Stephen King film adaption ever, based on a darned good story (even if it was written by a cheap dimestore hack).

Is that five? Ok.

i can't decide....there are too many movies that i love.....Star Wars is probably the tip of the iceberg, but then it's a REALLY big iceberg

A classic , I like Gregory Peck and is performance in this film.

Ah hoy maties -- This is KAB , Antonio Bay . Were coming up on the midnight hour and I have some easy lis-- " Knock Knock Knock " Oh wait , there's someone at the door. I'll be right back.



(5) Dawn Of The Dead:
Ahh! Too much Bloodshed ! Interesting tho… I can imagine myself on a rooftop with a high power riffle and a few grenades.

(6) Monracker:
I saw this movie more than Star Wars because of it’s potential to be more realistic in the near future. Plus Bond Saves the Earth and gets the girl all in the same day.

Star Wars- During AFI awards Lucas said he counted this as ONE film broken up into many films. So all Star Wars flicks count as one story. hehehe I win!

I fondly remember these 2 films from my childhood during the early 80's. THE KEEP was a pretty freaky film. I remember it was about some hidden castle in Romania which had a secret stash of treasure which the German Army was trying to get.

KRULL was a rather odd and eccentric film but still good! I remember the one eyed giant and the metal bladed weapon the main hero would throw like a boomerang.

The Lord of the Rings! How could I leave that out? *smacks forehead* That's ALSO one of my Favorite films.

I am conflicted over this movie. I love it and I hate it. I'd like to shake Peter Jackson's hand and smack him up side the head. Parts of it are heartbreakingly good, and then there's all the *gosh darn it, we are way more clever than ol' Tolkien ever dreamed of being* crap thrown in.

Bottom line: I bought the extended DVD versions. :roll:

That was right at the time I was listing to Van Halen , Eruption --- Kiss , 100,000 years -- and Ted Nugent ,Stranglehold.

It was a good year.

The style back then, and infact the 80s & 90s wasn't really my scene to be honest. Looking back, I have to cringe TBH. But today's fashion you generally see around here - hip huggers, short cut tops etc., well dude - I wish I was 20 years younger for sure. Not to mention, I'm sure they didn't build them like that when I was that age! :shock: LOL! :lol:

Does this have something to do with those Essex girls? A British friend of mine in college told me that I should go and visit Chelmsford sometime because the women there are very "friendly". LOL

It's a well renowned joke - Essex girls. But they are really no different than any other girls up and down the country. Although they probably tend to put their bodies on display a little more vivaciously. Oh, and I'm not in Essex, but Surrey. (Other side of London area)

Ah, Essex girls......white stiletto's is allegedly their trademark item. However, i know a few girls from Essex, and their lovely....funny accent mind you, but lovely

And Kodiak, totally agree, hipster jeans and crop tops are fantastic to look at...which is precisely why my 18 year old sister isn't allowed to wear them!!

18? There's no-one has a hold on what she does mate - she's 18!
