Um, I thought this picture from a Saitek/Flight Sim convention in Russia was interesting. Oh, can you guess which flight sim they are playing?

I know, I hate these low-rider pants. All you see now is the underwear of people you don't WANT to see!

Buff has the right idea - wedgie time!! As for the flight sim, it's obviously LOMAC. And there is nothing wrong with hip-huggers, or thongs - on the right body!!

First World = US and Western Europe
Second World = USSR, Eastern Europe, China, Communist Client states
Third World = Pretty much everyone not in the sphere of influence of those first two

I dont think so. Average monthly salary in Russia is about $250 USD. By United Nations standards, that puts them in 3rd world country status.
Besides, 1st world 2nd world and 3rd world have nothing to do with NATO/Communist spheres of influence. It is based on standard of living

Given the resources available in Russia, I would have expected the country to take-off on an economical footing in recent years, but it just hasn't happened. Wonder what the problem is, and wonder what the trip-wire will be, cos it has to happen sooner rather later methinks. Although it has to be said, black marketeering and mafia activity probably don't help much.

I believe the problem is Putin. He's ex KGB and he is not very fond of democracy. He's reaquired private companies for the good of the state, but they were held by individuals under dubious circumstances to begin with...in other word, the profit is not trickling down to the little people. At least, that's what I gather.

Very true and in fact if you were to ask most ordinary Russians if they would prefer to go back to Communism and the USSR, they would probably say "yes".

Putin? A gravy soaked chip that's a bit cheesy?

It doesn't matter how much they make. The USSR had a fictitious economy.

first world, second world, third world is NOT based on economies. it is based on political influence as Jedi indicated.
