My wife Debi and I went to the grocery store last night to do our bi-weekly grocery shopping. When we came out to our car with our shopping cart, there were police officers, a police helicopter, and a police dog searching the area for someone or something. We saw an elderly man sitting on a nearby bench, police surrounded him asking him questions and attending to his apparent injuries. We saw blood on the man's shirt and hands, and from what I could tell it was a carjacking or a robbery of some sort. Here is the story that made the news today:

SAN DIEGO -- A 76-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach during an attempted robbery in Clairemont, San Diego police said Monday.
The victim had finished shopping and was placing groceries in his car at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday at 4725 Clairemont Drive when he was approached by a man who demanded money, SDPD Sgt. Bob Dare said.
When the man turned to look at the robber, he was stabbed in the stomach, Dare said. The man then tried to grab the knife and received a cut to his hand.
The assailant then fled on foot without getting any money, Dare said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Dare said.
Officers didn't locate the attacker, but recovered a knife in the area that is believed to be the weapon used in the attack, Dare said.
Police are searching for the robber, who was described as a white or Hispanic man about 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin, with brown hair and wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, Dare said.
I hope they catch this guy, I mayl have to reconsider shopping there during the night until he is caught.
