Never got it because all the reviews I read said it sucked.

han did shoot first. And I got it before everyone said it sucked; and then I got a free promo copy from my Gunnery Sergeant; our First Sergeant passed some promo copies down. I was gonna mail the originals to someone but the promo copy has annoying features built in which makes me want to break the discs; not to mention you can't actually patch the promo copy, so i'll just hold onto it instead...
should have known better...

Erm, . . . . . . . did I miss something here? The thread begins:
Subject heading - First To Fight
Text - nevermind (Kodiak whispers confusedly**it doesn't even begin with a capital letter . . . . .**
 )
It never quite makes sense, and who the hell is "han"?
Anyway, I have First To Fight myself. It ain't stupendous, but I think it's kinda okay to play as a squad . . . . .

Maybe he DID shoot first, the question is when did he shoot, who did he shoot at, and what the hell is that to do with the game in the first place? I've played the game, but still haven't bumped into anyone by the name of Han!
No DA, you can round around giving commands and healing your team if you want to, but they still need that "lead from the front" environment or they tend to fester and eventually get killed anyway.

Gator, Steel and I have this and have played it. I think it's a decent game, but there are so many things that could make it better. The MP part of it has NO AI backup (ie Ravenshield). The missions are looooooooooooooong....when you run out of ammo, you are out. (Unless you pickup a weapon/ammo from a dead bad guy) If you die and respawn, the guy you spawn into has no ammo either. We would probably play it more, but if I remember right, Steel had some problems getting it to run. (Some 3D error or something).
DA, the game you are thinking of is Full Spectrum Warrior (Which is damned fun BTW) Gator and I have FSW for Xbox, and we have played it a couple of times MP. It's a very tactical game, you actually have to "think" to complete certain tasks. If one guy dies on your fireteam, mission over. If a guy gets injured, you have to carry him back to an aid station or you take the chance of him getting hit again and dying. I have actually thought about getting FSW for the PC, but there is a (2) player limit for MP. Lame.
Does anyone else miss our GR days? Man that was a fun game...

i don't have/never have had FSW. i seem to recall it is top down or third person??? i have heard/read good things about it though.
FtF is actually fun, I have not tried to run it on a while and I do not recall if the issues were before or after we actually played. I do like it, but think it is in fact limited/scripted.

Yeah, unfortunately you don't get much of a choice on which way to go. Programming these days is way more capable than that. Provide the environment, give the player the choices of which way to go. When there are specific tasks to be achieved allow the player to decide how best to approach them - then give them something to think about on the escape route, which you could have triggered by the fact that they have achieved that initial task. Depending on route in depends on whether you trigger action for escape route 1,3,5 or 2,4,6 or a random selection of triggers so might not come up against any resistance at all or even whether action triggered on any particular escape route gets involved in your escape (extraction) attempt.
And what about stuff we ain't even seen yet in any game - such as "Interrogation" (resistance to - each group or nation has their own methods! How do you survive the interrogation?) And subsequent " escape & evasion" attempts (and of course provision of opportunity which would need to be recognised by the player or some time later you could then shoot the game forward to say the next interrogation or a move somewhere else to be held as a hostage then all the time looking for chances to escape, take any or find food/water given or offered or lying around. All of which hold their own new dangers - longer interrogation means eventually you will be too weak, you could end up simply being shot? or there could be a rescue attempt who knows, but don't count on it!! Taking refuge on the run - who can you trust? Or do you simply go it alone hoping you make it with what you have left?
let's be honest, do you care if yopu have to load 6 CDs/DVDs to get the game on the PC, as long as it can live up to your expectations when you play it?!

Anyone up for putting a team together and making our own game?
B20 anyone?
Huh

B20? I think that is far more cryptic than "Han Shot First!"

Hudson, I can't believe you don't know who B20 are - BRAVO TWO ZERO? Doesn't it ring a bell? At all?
Ah!

That's better. Works better with the whole phonetic alphabet, rather than pronouncing it Bee Twenty. I did just wake up from a nap; not all systems are functioning at maximum capacity yet. My bad.

Dude, I know how you feel! I had my first decent sleep in I don't know how long myself last night - fell asleep as the kids began decorating the tree (and I was the one who engineered the whole thing, saying that we never quite do it all together as a family yadda yadda yadda! wanted to do it right this year, seeing as we were doing it late and so on, moved the furniture to accomodate the tree and decorations, moved the computer to accom the furniture, moved the kitchen arrangements to accom the computer - you get the idea right?! - then fell asleep, LOL!  ) But waking up this morning I felt just great.
