Great job working together and adhering to your strike packages. That's really how we tale objectives and prevent them from getting resupplied. Have an element take on SEAD, have another element take on air coverage, have another element take care of ground strike, with no one getting distracted away from their mission. Great job Trichome for reminding us of this the other night.
From this, we were able to take Kish in the same night that we set out to do it, with minimal losses, and even got it reinforced so that we can operate from there safely. We now control the coast and have our eyes set inland.
Great job, all!

Some further debriefing notes:
The fact that we worked together is what made this successful. Everyone understanding that they have a job in the mission to fulfill and to stick to that mission was key. Panzer wanted SEAD so he was assigned the main SEAD/DEAD striker. Everyone else was in Apaches or the Harrier, so they had the task assigned to take out the ground targets post-SEAD/DEAD since it would take them time to get to Kish. That way Panzer can kill the SAMs before the rest of the strike team gets there, not having to worry about air defenses.
That left me, and so I went with a Hornet with a mix of AA and SEAD/DEAD. My mission was to provide air cover for Panzer so that he can hit his targets without having to worry about bandits. Whatever is left when he is winchester/Arizona, i will clean up with my 2 HARMs if I haven't used them for self defense.
So it worked out well. I got there first, but I circled around waiting for Panzer to get there. I may have fired HARMs in self defense at that time, but this was at targets at Kish that were slated for DEAD anyway. But I know on the way to Kish I was being painted by an SA-8 to the North that wasn't in my mission so I ignored him though I could've hit him. My mission was to be on station at Kish in to cover Panzer.
When Panzer got there, a few bandits took off right from the airbase so they didn't even show up on the DL until later. But others saw them with their Mk1 eyeballs. Unfortunately I couldn't locate them fast enough to protect Panzer and he succumbed, but I did kill them moments afterwards and that helped Creeper/Trichome/Neph in the Apaches. After that point, Panzer would rotate back in as I rotated back out to rearm then follow the same mission plan.
By then the Apaches got there and did their thing. It was great--by the end of the night, the Apaches were surgically removing targets that couldn't be hit by fixed wing because they were hiding in urban areas. It left one URAL hiding in between 2 buildings that I had JTAC smoke and I was able to find them with the ATFLIR and drop a JDAM. I wasn't confident with the bomb hitting since he was hiding in an alley, but the bomb fit right between the buildings into the alley and got him! Kish went neutral, and Creeper landed there with logistics and took the base. I then reinforced it. So now we have the whole Persian Gulf coast under our control and can move inland from closer locations.
I hope everyone can see that when we work together as a unit, we can kick butt. I mean, we took a whole base in less than 2 hours with minimal loss. Let's try to do this again when we go for Foxtrot.
That is the next objective, to start moving inland and taking out the remaining enemy strongholds. We had some action against Foxtrot at the end of last night, but there are more than 20 targets there and 2 Apaches and 1 Hornet wasn't enough. They also have air defenses. So again, we would need a SEAD/DEAD package. The Apaches were really good at taking out SCUDs and other targets en masse with Hellfires. I was suprised how well Hellfires worked on multiple targets, so it would be good to have them do the same to clean up. Plus, now that we have Kish, the Apaches don't have as far to fly to get to Foxtrot. We will again need an air element, and some supplemental ground strikers, especially since there are more targets than any one person can carry weapons for.
Remember also that we are stronger together than we are lone wolfing it. I think that successes like last night make the evening more enjoyable and less humdrum and we have something to look forward to next week!
Good job again, all!

Xpendable's 3 air-to-air kills in a span of 2 minutes in a Harrier. Honestly, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Re: Foothold PG 030525
My video had no audio so I deleted it.....
This was a great mission with only a few hiccups. Other than Jedi we all made it to Kish and were able to take the base pretty quickly other than that 1 pesky Ural Bones hit with a PERFECT JDAM strike. Right down the middle.
After most had left Nemp and I took a pair of Apaches to Foxtrot (With Bones flying cover and SEAD) and I got smoked right away by a SAM for sticking my neck out a bit to much. Nemp warned me too.... I took off from Golf to back him up from the north and when I got there he and bones had done some damage (bones then left) and we cleaned up the rest.
Right when we had 1 or 2 targets left..... a Convoy with SA8 and some other baddies showed up and chased us away (Nemp got hit).... we were winchester and I RTB'd. Once I landed at Golf I took off again and hit an incoming convoy headed towards golf. Landed again and called it a night.
We also got 3 F4 kills in the Apache (they were taxing)
Great work everyone...
Bones - Anychance we can get some Apaches at Bandar Lengeh and move the carrier closer to the cost we just took over?

Re: Foothold PG 030525
The JDAM that Trichome mentioned was at 6:15 in this video:
I had at first gotten the drone to lase it, but all the buildings blocking the laser was making it hard for me to pick up his laser, so I had the target smoked instead. I saw the smoke in the TPOD and manually put it in my crosshairs and sent those coordinates to the JDAM. Still, with all the buildings in the way, I didn't think it would hit. I think I waited until I was nearly overhead to make sure it would drop straight down, but maybe I just wasn't set up fast enough to drop earlier. In any case, I was very surprised that it hit, it was pretty cool.
I think I can add Apaches there, but I if i do, i can tell you that the waypoints might be screwed up. They would be set to the perspective of whatever base the aircraft I copied and pasted from would be, and I just don't have the time to edit 26+ waypoints. you could always use the dynamic flight planner to get around that.
The carrier, i know next to nothing about how to get it moved over and still follwo the right track and broadcast ILS and stuff like that. Maybe Recluse can help with that.

Re: Foothold PG 030525
OK 4 Apaches on Bandar Lengeh. They don't have the full set of WPs but I set them with WPs to the closest targets:
WP1: Kish Int's
WP2: Tunb Kochak
WP3: Tunb Island
WP4: Foxtrot
WP5: Golf
Hot starts with MMD and 8 Laser Hellfires and 8 Radar Hellfires No fuel tank.
Thanks Recluse!

Re: Foothold PG 030525
As it turns out, the added Apaches etc were added to a new version of the mission. This new version adds a red carrier and takes islands that were non-combative and makes them red target, plus adds some more targets. The mission has some bugs worked out and adds some other functions.
DO WE WANT TO CONTINUE ON USING THE NEWER VERSION OF THE MISSION or do we want to keep putting along with the one we've been flying?
We still hold the same territory we captured, and we still have the same amount of credits. No losses there. See below:
Let me know what you want to do before Wednesday's mission!

My 2 cents only...
If the progress remains the same but we got an enemy carrier I think thats cool but im open to whatever the groups wants. Appreciate the efforts in moving the blue carrier group closer to the AO.

Re: Foothold PG 030525
This looks good to me. Gives us more to do without resetting the clock, and having the carrier in the east gives us a variety of spots to stage out of.
When we do finish this one, is there a Sinai version of this one we can do? We've now done a lot of PG and a good amount of Syria but I think Sinai has been built out a good bit now.

Well, the carrier to the east is enemy. So we can't stage out from there yet, but it does add an interesting kink in things in that we have to deal with an enemy carrier group.Jedi Master wrote: ↑11 Mar 2025, 20:04This looks good to me. I do have a Foothold Sinai. We flew a mission on it last year but it seemed that it being Sinai that lots of people were having frame issues. Maybe that's gotten better since with new patches and stuff. I flew that campaign with Wingy and Recluse and had no frame issues and they on average did not either. After PG we can try it again if you'd like.

Yeah I would definitely want to try Sinai again. I’ll go back to using a KA-50.

Re: Foothold PG 030525
OK, all. Thanks for the input. We will continue tonight with the updated version of the mission.
"(AP/UPI). In the ongoing crisis with Iran, the coalition struck a further blow in taking and controlling the coast of Iran by taking Bandar Lengeh and Kish Island. In a shocking response, Iranian insurgents in conjunction with the Iranian military suddenly appeared on several island in the Gulf. They appear to have been secretly biding their time building up strength and strategy to launch an offensive that was not detected by the coalition until it actually happened. In a Tet offensive-style coordinate guerilla attack, the Iranians were able to take several non-combatant island in the area, some of them in flanking positions of the newly acquired coalition bases. As an added show of force, the Russians have sent a carrier battle group to the Persian Gulf, allegedly to monitor and stabilize the region. It remains to be seen if the Russian Navy will enter the fray, or simply observe, but it also seems certain that they have no intent to assist the coalition in any way.
The response of the coalition to this recent development is highly anticipated."
After we emerge victorious, we can give Foothold Sinai another try. Maybe by then there will be further updates to make it even better.
Looking at the new map, If we are going to have Apaches operating out of Bandar Lengeh, there is a new hostile area at Moradi that popped up on Qeshm that might pose a threat to the helos. I think our first order of business should be to take out that hostile area
See you tonight.
