Persistent Mission: Foothold

Post by Bones »

I just flew a persistent mission called Foothold. I'm impressed. I got it from that other group that I fly with from time to time. I flew it SP, but it definitely is an MP thing to get ahead. You have to earn money by doing things such as win a battle, resupply, rescue a pilot etc while carrying out your mission. It was pretty fun and not too overbearing. I was by myself in SP and got some kills, though the SA-15s took out some of my missiles. I did strike the airbase they tasked me with and brought her back for a 3 wire, so that was a good hop.

I then flew it with some friends in MP

It was really enjoyable! You start off with $0 but as you get kills and complete missions, you get credits for $, but you don't get to bank them until you land safely. Then you can use them to buy more aircraft, or SEAD flights to help you, or even to smoke the target, etc.

It's really cool. Targets aren't too far away so it doesn't take forever to get there. I hit a target but didn't kill it and as I was egressing they repaired it! Another time we hit an airbase so bad it was considered neutral. We had a transport plane coming to land and supply it (which would make it ours) so the mission changed to escort the C-17, then the MiGs came to try and stop us. They took the base back, d'oh!

Stuff like that that made it really cool.

Here are those hops:
