Well I didn't want to get condemned for buying it before I get SBPPE, but since you put it that way - I guess I'll be shopping tomorrow.

In case you don't read the fine print during the install, make sure you include the dashes in the cd key and make sure you use all capital letters, it appears to also be case sensitive. Thought I'd post here, but it could be that I'm the only idiot.

ok .... little rant.
was anybody able to find the dvd version of the game? My store told me the dvd version was delayed. Anyone find it ironic that a game that practically requires a $400 video card, a $100 sound card, a $100 PHYSICS card can't require a $20 dvd drive? Why are pc games even being published on cd anymore?????

not true... Softball got the DVD version at Frye's. EB did not have the DVD version, only CD.

Actually, I went to Comp USA, they had 2 shelf spots of GRAW, one stack was CD-ROM and the other DVD. I picked up the DVD version of course.
When I got home, I installed GRAW and then I spent an hour or so trying to figure out (troubleshooting) why it would not run on my computer. Everything installed no problem, when I ran the game, it would do the CD check, load the GRAW splash screen, screen turns black, and the boom CTD, no error messages. I tried everything possible that I thought was the problem (Reinstalled "official" NVidia drivers, disabled 1 Core on the CPU, put GRAW on the DEP(Data Execution Protection) and Firewall exception list, etc..) Steel and I then started looking through various forums and Steel found some posts on the exact problem I was having. Turns out I needed to have the LATEST sound card drivers (SBXFi) installed, which I only had the drivers from the sound card CD installed. I remember I had DLed the latest drivers, but forgot to install them.
After reversing my troubleshooting steps, installing the latest sound drivers, and a reboot, I ran the game and it finally worked. I did a LAN server test and the mission that first pops up is the Demo mission. So, I made a 4+ minute (27MB) video clip of that mission. The settings are as follows: 1680x1050, ALL graphics settings on HIGH (Default
), No FSAA, 8x AA. While I was running FRAPS, I was getting between 27-32 fps. With FRAPS turned off, I was getting 45-53 fps. Looked and ran beautifully, no stuttering, and no slowdowns whatsoever. Absolutely amazing!
Here is a link to the video I made, enjoy!

I preordered mine at GS, and when I picked it up it was on DVD. Plus, it's a "limited ed" version with a 2nd DVD with some background stuff on it that I've yet to watch. It's supposed to be 15 mins or so.
Gator and I barely got to do much with it last night, but already I've seen differences from the demo. It does look better, although the no-FSAA thing irks me.

So.............give some insight on the MP and COOP...is it still limited to 4 people? If so.....then I can see me waiting until June or whenever they fix MPand put the SDK out

Yes, 4 people still. However, there is AI filling in, so if you have 5 people just split 2/3, 6 ppl 3/3, etc. It's an irritant, but it's not a showstopper.

Jeez! Still 4 personnel? For crying out loud - do these people ever actually listen to their customers? Anyway, you'd think it was common bloody sense would you not? Almost all Westernised mil forces run in a standard format of a section consisting of two four-man fire teams. Occasionally, you'll see extra team specialists for that mission - maybe a technician, comms or medic who will be mission/task specific, although generally you'll find a team memeber already task/mission qualified. But that's about it.
Having said that, I don't think it'll be long like you say, until that is rectified. I will still be making a purchase though.

I'll be picking up my copy on Sunday. That'll give me time to install it, configure it and play it solo a bit before I get my internet service back.

Panzer, there are some issues with GRAW that you should be aware of.(Maybe you already know) You might wanna wait until they release a patch that fix these issues before you buy.
The first issue the leader dying = game over, the most retarded thing I have ever seen in this type of game.
The second issue the Gamespy account mess. You have to have a Gamespy account to play MP online. I already had a gamespy account, and when I tried to use my already active account name and PW, it tells me the PW was incorrect. Oooook....So, I pick a different name, different email, and it tells me the name is already taken. Who the he*l else has Softball_WOF as their user name?
I finally got SOFTBALL to work with one of my many email addresses that I have.
3rd.... no mission briefing at the weapon selection screen. How are we supposed to plan out the mission and choose the correct weapons without a mission briefing?
The other one you already are aware of, only 4 players in MP COOP. Hopefully this will be fixed at a later date. Not likely though, seeing as it's already crowded in the Blackhawk with 4 people.
If you can look past all that craploa, the game is actually pretty good. I think with some fixes in a patch, GRAW might be a worthy game.

Well, to be fair all these issues were in the demo. The full release simply didn't change any of them.

Hey Buff, no drama. There are a few 'disappointing' posts in those threads. People get passionate about things and let their fingers run away on the keyboard sometimes. Been guilty of it myself on occasion. Not to mention, that the tone it comes across with may not be the tone it was typed with . . . . .
