"FAR CRY" , new game coming out...

Post by Softball »

Anyone seen the info on this game? Looks like a combination of OFP, GR, and SOF II. The game is still in development, but it looks FANTASIC! It has a full 3D In-game view editor, where you can add 3D objects, add water, hills, roads, and more. I'm trying to get more info on it, like will it have MP and COOP MP?

THE STORY
The game is set around 2020 on a set of beautiful tropical islands in the pacific.

It has a strong tropical-paradise feel, scenic in its beauty, but, harbors a terrible threat. It is a mix of jungle / primal / and next-gen technology.

As the player you find yourself hunted by mercenaries without knowing why, and ultimately drawn into a secretive plot.....

More info...

I found some more info on FAR CRY. It looks like it's gonna be more of a SCI-FI type of game, a combination of HALO + HALF LIFE + GILLIGANS ISLAND (maps). The maps will be 4K Square in size, SWEET! It is scheduled for release in November 2003. We'll see.

MORE GAME DETAILS
Venture through an utterly realistic tropical island, with no limits placed on where you can go or how far you can see. Become embroiled in a thriller movie-style storyline, controlling one man in a bid to escape from the island with his life. Encounter and defeat highly intelligent enemies in stunning tropical locations, as you jump into a game world modeled to an unparalled level of detail - with next generation "physics-on-demand" and a view distance of over half a mile.

Heart-pounding tropical island isolation: Experience unprecedented drama and realism with incredible lighting and shadows, adaptive audio, and weather effects that impact gameplay.

Next-generation engine: A new standard of action gaming with advanced environment and character physics, destructible terrain, dynamic lighting, motion-captured animation and total surround sound.

Unparalled long range gunplay: Battle to the ends of the earth with Far Cry's utterly unique, 800-meter scalable view system. Lock into enemies from a distance with motion-sensing binoculars. Then choose your style of attack - from long range sniping to ballistic close-quarter firefights - and everything in between.

Cunning and complex artificial intelligence: Gameplay never becomes repetitive with units including snipers, stalkers, scouts, and grenadiers engaging you from all angles, distances and terrains in coordinated strikes. Commanders will even call for reinforcements by land, sea or air.

Diverse combat action: Master a dynamic slate of combat skills - close-quarters combat, long-rnage shooting, search and destroy tactics, stealth operations, and combat driving skills through indoor and outdoor environments.

:D

I will be keeping an eye on this one for sure. It looks like it will be quite FUN and very moddable, there are 3DSMAX plugins for the 3D stuff. I like what I see so far.

I have some doubts about the weaponry. Looks at little Unreal Tournament-like; in particular, a hand-held 6 or 8 shot rocket launcher? found it when looking at the CryEngine page.
