If anyone here is into Warhammer 40k, there is a new RTS game coming out called Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. They have released a SP demo for it and it can be DLed at Fileplanet here:

Not something I have ever considered to be honest - maybe I'll take a look at that sometime.

Are you into Freeble the Large Bugglerand? :?

I know as much about that as I do Warhammer. Where did it come from? Is this new, old, middle aged, confined to a nursing home, what?

Warhammer 40K was and still is a minitures battle system, kinda fantasy/sci-fi mix. There have been a few different PC games/attempts at PC games...and there are card games and all kinds of other stuff. Kinda cool, but most folks would probably not think so...

i played the tutorial in the demo...it is not bad at all - i just feel that you can't zoom out enough.

i also don't generally play RTS games as they are not tactically precise enough for my tastes. but this is pretty well done.

Hmm. So, the real question is, will people who have ZERO idea what Warhammer is like this game?

Sometimes games accomplish this. ST: Elite Force was liked by many people, including those who don't like Star Trek, because it was a good game. It wasn't just a license slapped on a crappy game.

As far as replicating Warhammer is concerned, apart from the buildings (there are none in the table-top game), it does a VERY good job. Things like giving squads heavy weapons, deep striking, infiltration, and deploying in cover, all mirror the table-top version.

i think folks that are fans of RTS games will like this one as well - even though they have no clue what Warhammer 40K is...

It doesn't have all the rules of Warhammer, and there are a couple of things that exist in the table-top game that aren't in the RTS. For example, tank shock. A squad can choose to stand up to tank shock, and if they manage to immobilise or destroy the tank, great. If they fail, they all get run over. This would be a gould thing to have in the game.
