What unit type...

do we want to play for Shattered States?

We are currently signed up as mercs, but there may be one NATO slot left. Mercs do nat have as intense a gameplay requirement as other units since you do not own territories. It might be a good way to get into the game. On the other hand, we seem to fit the role of a NATO disarmament force better in my opinion (it is just that, my opinion) within the group.

So I am putting up a poll and will let you all decide. There are also guerilla and federal and invasion force slots left as well... Check out the site and then give a vote. This poll will be closed in 3 days.

EDIT: Just found out that no invasion force slots are left so I have removed that option.

I voted for mercs - it would seem the logical choice Captain!

I voted NATO because the weps are cheaper to buy in-game, but it's not important to me. It's the fighting that's fun.

I voted for MERCS.

As I too would like to play as NATO, I think playing as MERCS will give us more assault type missions. I prefer to assault more than I prefer to defend. Not sure how our MERC squad will be used, but my guess is more of an assault and destroy squad. Seeing as MERCS don't own lands per say, that gives us free reign to pick and choose our missions, charge what we want (to buy better weapons, more ammo, etc..). I would also think as MERCS we can conduct RAIDS and get more items to barter with. (Trade food for $$$, Weapons, etc..) Not sure if this is how this works, but the idea is there.

We'll have to see how this pans out. It looks as if most other squads are going for NATO and MERCS.

I believe most other squads are Fed. and Gur., but there are quite a few mercs - which will probably mean slim pickings for contracts. What missions we get depends upon what is offered us. We can easily get territory defense contracts as well as offensive type contracts - but most will probably be offensive, at least at first.
