Urban Terror
Infiltration
Tactical Ops
Counter Strike

Fur,
Have you played all of these? Anyone else? What are your thoughts on them in relation to each other?

Fur,
I agree, especially at my age:)! My twitch factor is mostly gone when cmpared to all the young ppl out there playing these games. It is difficult to use real tactics, especially when most if the games are pick up and not squad/unit/clan based matches. If we could perhaps get into a game with someone else on our team and have voice comm, might be different... Wanna try anyone?

when I still played cs, I played with voice communication quit often. main problem is the quality...sometimes hard to understand eachother. and you can only do this with 2 peeps, with more it's just too hard to understand eachtother, or to hear who said what.

you get the second best results with tactics, wich you have discussed before, or by playing in a cybercafe, so you can really discuss what to do.

you get the best results by feeling what the other will do, so you are a real team without talking!! this way you can really rule the server with only 2 men!!

no matter how hard you guys are AGAINST cs, you do need tactics for that game!!
gfx may suck, it might not be so realistic, but in wars you really see how hard tactics are needed!

as I said before, I was member of the n°1 belgium and dutch+n°3 world clan, and believe me: we used tactics!!!!
the leader had a cybercafé, so we went there and discussed the tactics, and most of the clan played the war in the café too
and you better followed the tactics or you weren't asked to play the next war

Guys,
Voice com works with several ppl. And it depends upon the server and its connection mostly... You have to have discipline on voice com stuff...no ranting and raving, etc. Just spot reports, things like that.

Depending upon the game you can use tactics. I do agree with Fur that most just have the all left/all right kinda thing, but you can evolve better tactics than that... You have to have a mixture of weapons, terrain, etc. But two or three ppl opreating as a team can do a lot of damage I think...even in INF. You might not all survive every match, but you can certainly kick butt throught the entire match!

Also, Axel you are most def correct - if you play together long enough you just know what the other peeps are going to do...

heh
you prolly had that irl? o and what did you use in the army to communicate when you had to be silent, signs with hands and arms, speaking through a handsfree set, or just feeling what the others will do?

hmm
I'm not able to play any UT games anymore
1)I can't install any umod files anymore since I have my new pc
2)I've got a horrible mouselag in UT caused by the combination of my 3Dcard and my (optical) mouse...

I'm gonna try that quake mod you talked about helmut

Axel,
Something is wrong with your PC setup. Did someone build it for you? It sounds like too many things sharing the same IRQ...and I doubt you have enough devices that any IRQ's need to be shared. And why no umod things? Something is wrong there as well...

IRL, we used hand and arm signals and practiced a lot. When the shooting starts, you no longer need to be quite but it is hard to be heard over the battlefield noise. I managed...

I tried something that no one had before in my platoon. Usually the Platoon Sergeant stays with the vehicles to control them when the rest of the platoon dismounts. I would dismount along with the platoon leader and assist in controlling the squads as we moved...it was very effective. I also still maintained control over the vehicles via radio.

no, there are no irq problems with my pc (although I believe there are some shared...I do have more devices then irq's), the mouselag is only in unreal tournament and OFP, quake and other games don't have this problem...
it just started from the moment I had an optical mouse...

I can't install any UMOD's since I have unreal warfare, so I think that's the problem

His brother had a little bit to do with that...

Why not get rid of Unreal Warfare...? and the optical mouse? what do you mean by optical mouse? I have them on just about every computer and have no issue with any of them - they work the same as the regular mice - just don't need a mouse pad.

as you said, my brother has a little to do with it
so I can't get rid of it...but I play the quake mods now, so that's ok...

I play UT (urban terror) now, but I'm not sure if I like it...the weapon models kinda suck I think...

I won't get rid of the optical mouse cuz I like it too much
