I tried this out. The maps are very nice.

It adds many new capture/strategic locations and enlarges the maps nicely. It's even a little less crowded.

I'm going to work on a realism hack for this mod so we can have a realistic version of the bigger maps.

Seems you can't load two mods at the same time ...

Played a few maps today. I did get some lag/slow down during some large firefights. I also found a bug on one of the maps (Can't remember which one). I had captured all the flags except one. The last flag I could not capture, I had the area surrounded with my troops and the script to capture that flag was not working. So basically the enemy would spawn and die at that spot. I just stayed there and outlasted their numbers until I won the map.

The Artillery is still my favorite part of BF2, it's a sight to see and very effective. Also, I tried my luck at flying some planes and helos, I think I'll stick to the ground pounding. I found myself swimming with the fish after take off from the carrier deck. Of course I was using the mouse /KB to control, so maybe that's why I did so badly.

I use mouse/KB to fly in BF42/BFV and never had over much trouble flying, but it's NOT like flying in JO or any of the flight sims. It is it's own world. As such, I'm no good bombing really, but projectile weapons I'm good with. :)

I may get BF2 someday when the price drops--like $30 or less.

At $30, it's a definite "buy."

I guess this is directed towards Gator and Softball. What MODs do I need to get to be up and running with you guys? Is it me or are those carriers str8 deck? WWII and Korea style decks, pre NUKE age.

thought i mentioned this in another thread...

the carrier is an LHD ... like USS Tarawa or Wasp. They can carry helos and V/STOL planes like Harrier and JSF (F-35)

You will want the following mods ...

"Battleground" mod (realism): http://files.electronicvisions.org/batt ... s_1.0b.zip and the "COOP" mod at http://users.on.net/~codebasher/ .

You'll also want Frosty's mod (realism):
http://www.foftp.info/~garrison/bfe.zip

and DJuice's mod (realism):
http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~bf42players ... t&id=26435

Follow the instructions carefully ... read the readme files.
