Based on my impressions with the demo I think this game will rule, especially for Star Wars fans. Everything from the gameplay to the graphics, EAX sound and interface is first rate. You really do feel like an Imperial or Rebel officer commanding space fleets and ground forces. There is an awesome feature called "cinematic" view which gives you a detailed and close up view of combat. I've played other space RTS games like the Star Trek Armada series and Starfleet Command series and I think Empires At War will probably turn out to be even better. I'll be pre-ordering the full game later tonight

omg yes, this will definatley compete with the AOE series and maybe the LOTR BFME series too. This one brings a whole new way to play an RTS game to the table and it is very nice. On the positive side for me, it has awsome grapics, the space battles are awwwwwwssssooooome, the movie mode is freakin sweet, and the overall way to play the game is awsome. The negatives......i found none so far. definatley a buy for any RTS gamer (like me).
Love is that kind of feeling when your looking down the scope of your gun and getting that one perfect shot

I pre-ordered mine like 3 weeks ago...? Something like that, I ordered the Collectors Edition version. I played this last July at Comic Con International in San Diego, and the Cinematic view is like watching one of the SW space battles in the movies. Awesome stuff!
I didn't have time last night to DL this, but I will definately check it out between now and the weekend.
BTW, I love the footprints in the sand from the Stormtroopers.
