LOMAC: I got my copy!!!

LOMAC is finally here. I picked up my copy today on my lunch at my local EB. I asked how many copies they had sold today and they said I was #4. I was like WHAT, only 4!? They also told me that they only received 10 copies of LOMAC at their store. I was SO close to buying another copy just in case it was hard to get for someone else, but I figured it would be widely available.

If you haven't got your copy yet, call your local EB or other software store and see if they have any in stock.

BTW, now that LOMAC is out, how about a LOMAC forum?

Hey, Bri! What's with the WOF badge there inserted amongst the LO-MAC stuff? Have you digitally inserted that to the image or what?

Can those who have a copy please do a quick review of LOMAC so far i know you have only had it a couple of days but a quick first impressions review of the full game would be nice, and any screen shots would be a bonus!!

The flying qualities and visual quality is just like the demo. If you liked that you will like the full version.

Training missions are flown by the computer while a narrative is displayed on screen. They also point to various instruments and controls. You can take control at any time to fly the training mission.

Seems like a lot of flexibility in joining campaigns, flying SP & MP missions, making up your own missions.

In MP, if I read the manual right, you can switch to the cockpit of another AI plane - like USAF. You can automatically rejoin if you lose your internet connection. I don't know if that means you can join a MP session after they have taken off.

There are many different views - it is almost bewildering - that you can switch to.

Right now I am flying on Veteran. If you fly on Ace, you disable the exterior views. I am assuming we will all fly on Veteran, at least in MP. Any other opinions on this?

I still do not like this business about activating your cannon. I keep on forgetting to activate it; then when I am ingressing and press the trigger - nothing.

Will be getting my copy soon. Again, could we make LOMAC a Saturday or Friday night thing? I will never be able to play otherwise. sigh.

Thanks for the Heads up on LOMAC Madrus, Looks like we are in for a cracking time OL with this one, as soon as we have given the MP stability a good testing, but if its as good as IL2 then i think we are onto a winner, cant wait to get my copy in December along with my new graphics card. :D

Well got my copy and it looks like us brits got conned compares to you Yanks pardon the expression.

I take it you guys got a nice box with your copy of Lomac or Loacs as its called over here

Thats, Lock On: Air Combat Simulation

Not Modern Air Combat, they changed the name slightly for us and also we got the game in a DVD case not a box with a cd case inside.

So what we got was DVD case, Game CD, Manual (small) and a token for Track IR, no Keycard.

The keycard is not missing for the UK version, as it's not mentioned on the case that there is supposed to be one, were not ment to get one over here seemingly.

Ok enough small gripes, you'll excuse me while i install the game now and see if it works on my PC.

Later <S>

Grif, Nemisis is griping about not GETTING a keycard which is included in the US version (except for the first run which is missing the key card - see post in the LOMAC thread regarding this issue).

He probably already knows that he can dl the key card from several sources as well as he has a keyboard commands doc in his LOMAC/docs subdirectory.

Madrus is spot on again!

I can DL the keycard if i want, it just seems that if the US version is supposed to have a keycard version in it, then why doe the UK version not supposed to have one in it, they really went for the cutting corners and cost for our version i think, oh well i have the game whichis the most importent thing :D .

Althoug my graphics card cant render the planes at all, all i get is a black plane shape not details what so ever, i can fly it!! even thought the entire cockpit is also black( no details at all, except for the HUD display) and you cant see out of it, but go to out side view and i can fly my pure black planes around.

WOW, Nemisis is one of the lucky ones who got one of the 10 copies total of the stealth version of LOMAC. Outstanding. That is a collector's item for sure. I wonder what it would bring on EBay?

And he also got one of the rare invisible keycards.

You better hope you did not get imaginary bullets, rockets, bombs, or missiles.

I am sure that new video card for Christmas will come in mighty handy, eh Nemisis?

Yes hopefuly the new video card will have anti cloaking abilities that will make those cloaked planes show up just like normal ones

Well as some of you know, I actually got LOMAC for my B-day. Makes being a year older a little easier I must say. I have to say what I've seen so far is impressive. For a survey sim, it appears fairly realistic and has lots of options that make multiplay sessions limitless. Mission designs and FTB. We could do campaigns and the like. It's simply cool.
