OK fellas. Trichome gave me the keys to Liberation. Here are tonight's missions:

The number is not the order that should be flown, just a discrepancy. Like we discussed, we should hit DEAD's and suppress enemy air defenses first. I will fly my FA18 DEAD flight and then jump in CAS later.

I strongly recommend that Jedi fly his deep strike WITH Hammer flying Escort.

Xpen: one mission from the LHA. the other from Al Minhad.
Bones/Grifter; All misssions from the boat.

Xpen 1 - strike on SA15's in AV8B (LHA)
Xpen 2 - CAS front lines AV8B (Al Minhad)

Panzer 1 & 2 CAS on front lines SU25

Jedi 1 - DEAD SA2/SA15 strike
Hammer 2/Jedi 2 - Deep Hawk strike on Hawks f-16 and M2000 escort
Hammer 1 - TARCAP

Trichome 1 CAS front lines AH64
Trichome 2 Hit Oil Platform in FA18

Bones/Grifter 1 - DEAD mission (F-14's separate or shared cockpit)
Bones/Grifter 2 - DEAD in F/A 18s

Creeper 1 - CAS front lines Mi24
Creeper 2 - DEAD on SA15's

Eyeball 1 - DEAD deep strike on SA-5's
Eyeball 2 - Strike on oil platform cleanup after Trichome

I recommend all of our (Grifter and I) DEAD missions be with the Hornet. The Tomcat can strike SAMs and AAA but not easily if they are active. The F-14A/B can't carry the HARM, only the TALD.

I just want to point out that the AV-8B was never really tasked with SEAD in real life because the AGM-122 is such short range and in reality had a very small frequency range that it actually worked with. They stopped converting AIM-9C's (which were primarily made for the F-8 Crusader) to AGM-122 in 1990, and the USMC hasn't put one on an AV-8B in a really, really long time. They work better on helicopters. The USMC and USN would use other planes for SEAD, and the AV-8B is and was pretty much NEVER used for SEAD. I have a personal friend who flew them in combat in Afghanistan in 2003 and they never did SEAD. It was exclusively CAS missions. I don't mind trying to do it periodically, but the survivability of the AV-8B in this role is about 10 times lower versus deploying a Hornet or other plane in this role. I have almost never made it to a CAS mission on our mission nights because I usually get shot down trying to do the SEAD which I am always assigned first. Anyway, happy to do whatever, but it would be nice to do a CAS now and then.

Thanks good feedback! If Trichome gives me another go at it, I'll make revisions to the planned missions.

Hey Creeper,

Thanks for the work on setting up the last turn. I had a good run of missions last night. I missed the last JDAM on the 2nd oil platform. Ill need to complete that next turn. But George and I did some damage....

Maybe Ill make a list of aircraft preferences and preferred mission types. As mentioned a few times. I/we aren't military planners so getting everyone's input has a lot of value.

Ill make another forum post about that and everyone can post their preferences for airframes and mission types.

Here are the results. We made some gains although it didn't probably feel like it.

I'll take Vikhr's next week. I went SEAD heavy this time around due to all of the SAM radars that were all over the area.

What mission cards???? :)

I just took off, follow Jedi as escort, watch him get shot down, stray too far into enemy territory, and go back to base with unused HARMs. Typical day at the office.
