Do I detect that we are falling apart slightly?

Friday nights still seem to happen--it's the only night I seem ever able to show up, although on occasion a Saturday or Sunday night is in the cards.

it seems that everyone is just busy...and some folks that were rock solid show ups are playing other games that they are enjoying...

it happens, seems to go in cycles. it is also true that the activity level drops in the summer for those folks that have crappy winters...

i myself am extremely busy with work, but it seems when i do have time to play no one is around... we do hook up occasionally, so it still works.

we are not falling apart, just somewhat inactive.

Although we all have our own ways of contacting our usual bunch for our 'usual' games we play. Perhaps, if everyone still feels the need to get online with the whole team (like me), then we should have ourselves a "standard" and "official" method of contact. By the time anyone reads the forums it's usually too late or they just can't be bothered, but for me, by far and away the best way to get up and running conveniently is the RW #5 whenever you are ready to play something, and everyone just joins to see what's being played. And if you can't or don't want to, decisions can be made to sort that - decide to play something else, or go off onto another channel with whoever wants to play that game. It's the easiest way to do it, and quickest - but we should make it the "official" way to do it. So everyone does it that way. From what I read on the forums there is plenty of - I want to play tonite - traffic, just that nobody realises everyone else has already been on to check if you see what I mean.

We should probably just use ESP to figure out when to join up.

Well that's the point I'm making Steel - it seems people aren't doing that because it's a bit of a pain. So what happens is that some check the forums, and some don't they check ICQ or RW or whatever, and everyone misses everyone else. Why don't we use RW? Everyone knows it's ch #5 to get started and the advantages are if you leave it on hoping others will join, you can also hear them cos they'll call you, so even though you may be watching something on TV or doing something else wherever you may be. You don't hear people come onto the forums.
Don't get me wrong - I know what you are pointing out here - the forums ARE the official way to check, but no-one is doing it, or they leave the message but aren't remaining on the forums, and why should they really. With RW, you can see in realtime if someone is around, and you're less likely to miss them. Just a thought, but I bet it works . . . . . . .
And Gator, as far as ESP is concerned - just think of the PING rate, certainly would put some of us at a severe disadvantage, especially those on 56K!! Anyway, I prefer 'touch' control e.g. Get it done, sunshine, or I'll drop ye'!

My Inactivity

Post by Softball »

I too have been busy as all hell at work, not getting home until 7pm or later. I eat dinner, watch TV, and by the time I get on the computer, I log into RW and no one is there. So I just play the games I usually play online, Shadowbane, City of Heroes, or whatever I feel like playing at the time. We have been doing the Friday night thing every week. Sometimes we have 7 or 8 of us, other times just 3 or 4. No matter how many we have, I still suck at RvS and die quite fast.

I have UT2004 installed and ready to go if anyone wants to play sometime. I'll try and have my ICQ turned on for getting in contact with me if I am not on RW or don't check the boards.

Well i have been trying to spend more time with my better half of late and also have been playing a lot of X2 The Threat, this game really is great as it takes me back to my School days when i played Elite for hours on end, i loved that game and X2 really is it modern day replacement.

But have been playing Lomac as well and getting used to the new flight models that are far better than Falcons are and really make you learn how to fly and use the energy envelope like in IL2.

On another note has anyone noticed the new flight models for SP4?? They stink in my opinion have flown Falcon quite a few times lately and it feels like the F-16 handles like a B-52 in SP4.

Anyway hope to catch you guys OL soon it's been a few weeks and feels like ages since i hooked up with you all OL.
