Softball Are you alright

Post by daofcmacg »

Sorry about that Softball, I just saw your ICQ message(10:13 the next day) which was stamped 5:22 I guess my time. Are you and your wife ok, and how big was the earthquake? Hit me back on ICQ when you see this.

I've just been told that it was 5.2, just of the coast near San Diego

Yep, it was closely followed some 3 mins later by a 4.7, although they were at the time of reporting unsure if it was the same location on the plates it ocurred. But they were at least very close.
Anyway Softball, I have finally found those items I acquired for you, and they will be on their way sometime tomorrow at a guess - they are fairly heavy but not too bad. You should be able to use most of the stuff for your airsoft stuff, but if it appears useless then just throw it away.

it was not 5.2, it was not 4.7... there were more!

at 3:28:46 there was a 3.0. we (I) did not feel that one.

at 3:38:48 there was a 5.3. that is the one we (I) felt.

at 3:32:54 there was a 2.5. not felt...

at 5:43:47 there was a 3.6. not felt...

all were out in the ocean, about 70Klicks west-southwest of Coronado and 70Klicks west of Rosarito.

A telephone pole was actually broken in Nidia's neighborhood. None of these earthquakes were of sufficient strength and near enough to really cause harm.

Earthquake

Post by Softball »

Thanks for everyone's concern, all is ok. Debi and I were both at work during the quake, it shook the building pretty good. Moved me across the room in my chair, and knocked a few books off the shelves. Felt like someone grabbed the building and shook it back and forth, lasted for about 25-30 seconds, no injuries or damage to report. By the time I realized we were having an earthquake, and thought I should get under a desk or doorway, the quake stopped. Went home last night and checked the gas lines and pool for cracks, everything was as it should be.

I guess San Diego is having it's share of disasters, Fires in October 03, and now an earthquake 8 months later. The only significant thing that happened in the quake that made the news was they had to evacuate a roller coaster ride at the Sea World amusement park. I have heard no other incidents other than that and what Steel posted. I have experienced quite a few earthquakes living here in San Diego (34+ years), but the one yesterday was by far the largest I have felt.

I will never forget the 1989 Earthquake in San Fransisco. I had a ticket to fly to San Fransisco and visit some friends up there, the quake happened 1 day before I went up there. I flew into San Jose and the flight into the area looked like a bomb was dropped on San Fransisco, it was unreal to say the least. I have pictures of the damage somewhere around here.

Anyway, thanks again for everyone's concern, it's good to know that people are thinking about you when things like this happen.

Well all I can say is your news reporting around there is fairly shite!! Cos I got a link from Softball, while we were blabbing on ICQ, and the damn news flash said two quakes - a 5.2 then 3 mins later a 4.7 in the same general area. Hey, at least the only thing they report wrong over here is the bloody weather!

Like the time a hurricane was headed our way, they said it wouldn't reach us and it did! Can't remember which one that was, had just hit FL I think.

I usually only get upset when they say it's going to be a fine sunny day in the west coast area of Scotland - when we ALL know that never happens! Such blatant lies!! 8O
