Time in posts?

Post by Softball »

What is the time set to on the boards? When I post, it is 1 hour behind my time, Pacific Coast Time. Is it set individually or on a server somewhere? I have my Profile setup for GMT -8, I will try GMT -7 and see if that does anything.

Thanks for any info.

EDIT: That was it. I changed my Profile time to GMT -7 and it now put the correct time on my posts. So the answer is: Individual Settings

I guess that means either I am not GMT -8, or there is something wrong with the time conversion on the boards.

The board works correctly, the issue is that during pacific daylight time (daylight savings) we are at GMT-7, and during pacific standard time we are at GMT-8.

I would have to check, but I am pretty sure the system time is correct and that is what the board software uses, but apparently the board software does not understand daylight savings time.

What do you expect for free software?

EDIT: Correct, the system time is correct. The board understands only an offset from GMT, so it must get its GMT time from the system, then offsets it by -8, therefore it is off by one hour during daylight savings time.
