H mm m m m m. . . I haven't been out to town recently. But I may be going today, I'll check out the local shop - see if they have Joint Ops and how much it is. The wife may be reluctant to let me have much more this month since I have ordered a new gap wedge (52 deg), to add to my golf clubs already and that was GBP 80,-

. But you never know, birthday coming up soon too!

Anyway, Raptor - another excellent idea - would you be prepared to consider Splinter Cell Pandora's Box (for those of us who have it!

) as an alternative for any missions we would consider to be "super- stealthy"? I mean, it could add an extra dimension to things. It doesn't have to be all the time, but it would allow for extra mssion scripting to be added, and another element of realism. Just an idea . . .

Awesome! Do we have enough personnel to do that who have SCPB? Perhaps we could have each pairing assigned a specific mssion, and have several missions. Then we could have an overall outcome to decide how successful we've been, or use a tiered effect where you can only proceed with the next if you are successful, if you catch my drift there! Anyway, just a few ideas how to do it - it's not for me to decide that I guess.

Do you know where the expression comes from, generally, Grif?
There was a TV show which sufferd a revival in recent years, not just the original series but also a new "son of" series. The original was called "Kung Fu" featuring David Carradine as a young western boy who was raised in a monastry in some part of Asia, being taught the way of the priest, and inevitably learning "the way" of his master, who teaches him all he needs to go forward into the bigger world - he is, of course, a master of the martial art of Kung Fu. He uses his wisdom and teachings to survive and help the defenseless in the wild developing vastness of North America, sometimes showing his niaivity and lack of street wisdom.
However, during his many classes as he grew up, he would show impatience in his teachings and frustrate not only his master but himself, to which he would receive the chastising remark "Patience Grasshopper!"
A true classic weekly TV series!

He was in a Shaolin monastery. Those are only in China...which is also the home of Kung Fu, which is the name of the series... Hard to link that up, eh? "someplace in Asia..." - geez. He was actually taken in by the monks, eventually, and became a Shaolin priest. But as luck would have it, he was defending some helpless babe (I believe it may have been a case of forbidden love as well - it has been a long time) from a royalty-like bad guy and killed him - forcing him to leave the country to stay alive.

That show is what motivated me to study Kung Fu...

Actually, I did not the origin of the name. My father would call me that, jokingly of course, to get my goat. I had studied the martial arts for about ten years and then money and time became a factor and I had to quit. I plan on going back to study someday. I study a Japanese art calle Uechi Ryu, which finds its origins in Chinese Kung-Fu. I'm a fan of the original Kung-Fu series, used to watch between classes when I was in college, you know, something mindless to do between Philosophy and Romantic Literature. Steel is right of course, the series is partly set in China; in particular, the Shaolin temple is most likely in the Hunan (SP). province.

Anyway, my father has called me grasshopper ever since I starting taking Karate because I can be very impatient at times, as I'm sure most of you have observed. As for the martial arts, I still study on my own, refining what little I learned in that ten year span. Because of my college experiences, I also picked up Ni' han, Akito, and kung-fu. A little bit of this and that. But, mostly, my grounding in Uechi, which is where the spiritual philosophy of my martial art stems from. Someday, when I'm not working four jobs and I've got money in pocket, I'll go back. Until then, I've got a nice big private yard to practic Katana and Bo in peace and quiet.

Did you know that that TV series was originally an idea put to the TV companies by Bruce Lee!

They liked the idea but did not want to use Bruce himself but instead Chose an American Actor "Carridane" since they thought it would attract more viewers with an American as the lead role.

Okay, as usual, the threads out of control. When do we want to get started on this campaign? Let's kick start this mutha and get moving. Hammer's written a pretty good theatre scenario/situational assessment. Snappy prologue if you ask me. We can certainly work off of it. Or we can take advantage of current global news and get put together a scenario. I'll be happy to make entries to the forum or e-mail people mock situaional briefing assessments like I did last year, or better yet, have them posted to the website. You know we do have a website...that no one visits? We should use it for this campaign. Look, let's hand out assignments and get cracking.
