On a much more serious note, Bri, I am happy just to take a complete backseat and provide an element of coaching for those who wish to learn to lead a squad, and mission specific tactics and so on - ground-based stuff, not air missions, I know almost nothing there. But I won't be pressing myself on anyone, they will need to ask if they want any ideas. What I am prepared to do is take dicreet notes, so anyone who wants assistance I can have a a small database so to speak on things I have taken note on for their benefit. But that will be dependant on people agreeing for me to do that too. It's probably how I can best serve the team, outside of taking part in missions.

Well i am here to train anybody in A/A combat for Falcon and Lomac (although i am still limited to F-15 at the moment as i want to become proficient at each aircraft before i move onto another one) and missile evasion techniques as i seem to be able to avoid any missile thrown at me in Lomac as long as i know it is coming, althought the SA-10 seems to throw about 15 SAM's at you at a time which makes things tricky .

I will draw up some training missions for Lomac for both A/A and A/G (A-10 only for A/G for the same reason as above).

And when we are ready to go for the main campaign i will make missions for Lomac when i recieve Tactical Data from Grifter.

I would try to make missions for Falcon but i am not fully up on Falcons Mission editor so anybody willing to make training and campaign missions for Falcon pipe up now and i will co-ordinate Training nights for that so i can assist if anyone wants some A/A Practice.

I created a mission in OFP(which I am testing to see if you guys can use it). There are some bunkers filled with Nuclear warheads waiting to be picked up and we the United States patched together some troops that were in the immediate area to go in and take them out. Its a large force, we could use that for a first strike mission one to take out the nuclear weapons and two slow down the Chinese ability to use the WMD card in the near future.

Well, although I ws flying round like it was a Sunday stroll on Friday night, I AM more than proficient in A-10 to be able to hold my own there. My only gripe is the sheer lack of weapon variation with A-10 - sure I know it's the nature of the beast, but sometimes I just wish . . . . :roll:
So, I'll take you up on the F-15 thing for a while 'til I get the hang of it. But mainly the principal of things is the same, beaming SAMs basic BVR (although I need to sort my team tactics and so on, and my lacking is really in the "How in the hell do I get this asshole off my tail?!" category. So whenever you got time mate - just let me know - we miss each other time-wise all the time at the moment.

The AAMRAMMs are still screwed up in LOMAC. Can't get a positive lock until 10 mi. That sucks and it's inaccurate. I'll try the sparrows to see if I can get something going for BVR.

Not sure myself there - although now you mention it we do seem to be at the "How did he get one off the rails before me?" problem again. Having said that, I have also noticed that my Cougar profile needs a little more adjustment - it seems to go straight to STT from RWS, instead of allowing TWS as an interim setting, which of course has it's own advantages. I'll get it sorted, and let you know if that is the problem I am having in the missile dept. But I'm sure the SU-27 / 33 has a reaching advantage with AMRAAM weapons, does it not?

Have to disagree with you Grifter the Amraam in Lomac works fine for me i can get positive lock and a kill at 17 NM with AMRAAM i usually get launch first against Mig 23's and Mig 29's although they do launch very quickly after me and i like to stay locked on target till about 5 NM then i go defensive gainst their missiles.

As for AIM 7 Sparrows well we all know the down side on them they need constant lock until kill! But still have a slightly longer reach but keeping lock until kill needs some amount of nerve to get the kill and then go defensive with oponents missile only 1 or 2 miles out.

But as a quick tip a high G barrel roll combined with ECM and a bit of Chaff has seen me alright 80% of the time.

Kodiak i think your problem with TWS and RWS just needs a bit of tactics training with me as i can get TWS lock on 2 or 3 incoming Bandits with AIM 120's and good kill ratio.

Let's get A/A with each other ASAP and i can show you how to work this.

Don't get me wrong here i am not boasting or anything guys it's just practice to get it right and a good HOTAS setup makes all the difference i think. So lets get a night arranged so we can all kick ass in Lomac and have a good chance of a mission succes in the campaign we are aout to start.

What I mean is Nemisis, I want to do most of my business in TWS mode, but on "lock-up" of target I should be entering TWS from RWS on first "lock-up", but I am infact going straight to STT which gives you away immediately and then I am forced onto the defensive sooner than I would have liked. The result being that my concentration gets disturbed, and we all know where that leads. So, it's more a case of ensuring that my system remains in TWS while I set-up for a multiple launch which is one of the BVR advantages of the F-15. There are one or two other things I need to sort out too - I want to have the controls for radar elevation and range, and one or two other things to hand and not on the keyboard cos I can't bloody remember the right key combos! And then I just end up doing allsorts of things in the middle of it all, and that's just what you need with an Archer hunting down your little ass outta the sky.
I'll get back to you when I have it sussed - but am happy to go fly anytime you are online mate.

TWS doesn't work with anything but AMRAAMs...you can't even select it if you've got AIM-9's or AIM-7's selected.
I've got to practice the multiple missile launches thing under TWS--when I tried it last I instead sent 2 missiles to the same target. :roll:

Grifter and I flew a little LOMAC Sat nite, and when he finally left I was in the middle of a dogfight with a Flanker. The guy fired EVERY missile he had at me, and luckily I spoofed them. I was left with a single AIM-9 and a single Sparrow, and spent a good 10 minutes with him on my six trying to get a guns shot. It took every trick in the book I knew to extend far enough away from him to turn around and get a firing solution. He definitely had better acceleration than me and lost less speed in the maneuvers.

In the end, though, I DID get off my Sidewinder at 1.5nm and took him out. The most satisfying AA kill I've had in a jet sim in AGES.

Kodiak TWS mode in Lomac does not get activated on your first lock up in RWS mode it is the way the Sim works that a lock up in RWS mode will switch you to STT mode.

To get TWS mode active you need to switch to TWS mode manually first, wait for Targets to show up while in that mode, then you can select/Lock up separate targets and fire a salvo as such of AIM-120's at different targets.

The most i have engaged at one time is Three separate targets and all missiles followed there intended targets, it is quite hard trying to "bug" 2 fighters in close formation as there is very little space between them in the radar display and i find that i end up locking/ bugging my first target and then switching to STT mode by selecting the same target again :roll:

Takes practice and preferably full Zoom on the radar display to get 2 targets in close formation bugged in TWS mode but when done it does work a treat.

Well that isn't how it described it in the training I'm sure - well I'll just have to bloody check that - I guess I misunderstood what was going on in the training mission. Definitely need to check that!!
And I presume that the "salvo launch" option you have just mentioned is a single press of the pickle button to launch at all targets locked-up in TWS? Let me know about that, I never understood what it meant from the start there, and didn't actually care until you explained it is integral with TWS.
Jedi, I had a blast at flying in the SU-27, MiG-29 the other night myself, and have to say the damn things feel like they turn on a dime. I DO like to fly them, but obviously I need to get a grip of the avionics which is a shade different from the A-10, F-15 before I get into it in the mssions we are going to fly for the campaign.

Having flown some Flanker 1 and 2, I don't have too many issues with the AA part of the Flanker or Fulcrum. That said, why do I feel at a disadvantage against US planes flying them, while I also feel at a disadvantage when I fly US planes AGAINST them??

not just you Jedi. that is my major complaint against LOMAC. the same plane flown by the AI has more effective weapons than the human pilot. it seems like the AI missile range and effectiveness is better than the same weapon used by the human pilot.
