H&D2: Sabre Squadron -- WWII coop!

Post by Jedi Master »

Supposedly the H&D2 addon comes out today, and it has coop MP action. This is the GR of WWII, and Panzer and I are both getting it (having had and played H&D2 already).
Anyone else interested could pick it up, too, as the game allows up to 4 players at a time, and we could all dive in.

I am getting it when I can get to the store. Maybe today after work if they have it. Looks like it will be a blast to play, can't wait.

There was a PR today that said it's shipping TODAY. So, we should definitely be able to find it by this weekend.
I can't believe it's only $10, though.

Hidden and Dangerous 2... It is WW2 Madrus, you might not appreciate it... :)

There is a demo, I dl'ed it to see what it is like. I seem to recall I did not like it for some reason. Going to check it out again...

It's basically GR in a WWII setting, except the missions are more complex (on average) than GR's were.
It's the most realistic WWII shooter ever made, since the others are all MOH, RTCW-style.

Yeah, we know several of us are already getting it so we can give you a rundown of how well it works. There's of course the whole issue of MP stability and game bugs as well, so we'll check that out.

Now I remember why I did not like it.

It is a 3rd person game... Is it not the GR of WW2. GR is not a 3rd person game...

Perhaps the CDS of WW2?

Have to say though, I was also very sceptical about Splinter Cell when I realised (after purchase) that it was a 3rd person. But I soon became oblivious to that fact as I played, since it provided an excellent SA advantage, that you lose to a great degree with first person perspective. Don't know how well it does in that game though.

H&D2 isn't 3rd person. It's 1st person with a 3rd person available, like OFP. You can't fight that way, also like OFP...it's more for when you're sneaking around.

how do you change to 1st person??? it starts in 3rd person, and i do not see a way to change it to first person??? would have been nice if they gave some type of manual with the demo...

i'll tell you this, the graphics do look nice...

quote from a review i found:

The entire game is 3rd person but can be 1st person if need be, which can result in better accuracy, but also a more ''squished'' feeling.

A very detailed, historic 3rd person shooter.

Well, I figured it out... I can't believe I thought it was 3rd person...and that this is such a good game - more sim than game.

Any of the rest of you that have not tried this and like WW2, you NEED to... Just hit the C button to switch to first person. :D The demo is available for download.

I will be getting the full version and add on ASAP.

umm, IIRC, you can fight 3rd person in OFP. you still have the cursor on the screen. it is about as accurate (meaning not very) as fighting in first person, but without zooming in. Sort of like in rl, where you can shoot without looking through your scope versus looking through your scope and firing.

Well, because of the aiming situation I consider 3rd-person in OFP not useful when firing. For that I always use the iron sights (which H&D2 have, BTW) because they're so much more accurate.
In both games it's best for determining if you're in cover or not.

my opinion - 3rd person removes the simulation aspect. period. cheating... ;) besides, i don't like 3rd person games unless it is a tactical/strategic game ala. Close Combat or Squad Assault.

yes, h&d2 has iron sights even...!!!

i still can not believe i thought it was 3rd person only due to reviews i read. are those people daft???

Kodiak (especially), Nemesis and Hammer should really like this one... :) SAS all the way... And it should be bargain bin now...

When you play MP, can you play as Germans as well as SAS???
