Of course you can post in here!
Always good to see some new members, looking forward to flying with you. I'm an avid Freespace 2 fan myself ( ), so maybe we can get some time sucking vacuum.

Though I have my gripes with Lomac, I do fly it. Some us usually play it during the week, either a Wednesday or Thursday evening 8 to 11 eastern time. But we're flexible on scheduling. We play a lot of other games too. Have a look at our forums/website to get an idea:
Falcon 4.0 with superpak 4.2
Joint Ops
Hidden and Dangerous 2
Ravenshield
and more.
Glad to have you aboard and hope to get to fly with you soon.

Jedi,
I find that is exactly one thing I do not like about LOMAC - probably because of my familiarity with Falcon. I don't have that much time to dedicate to programming my HOTAS and learning eveything about it - when I can do more in Falcon (ala. A2G).
It may not be more complex, but I do think it is just as complex as Falcon, at least in the A2A arena.
That, on top of the shortcomings it currently has, gives Falcon a heads up for me.

I don't find LO-MAC as realistic in A-2-A mode, but I am certainly not impressed with it's lack of realism in A-2-A mode, especially modelling of radar and weapons precision regarding the AI's abilities. Not to mention, the AI SAM engagements - very, very rarely do you escape a weapon launch against your aircraft unless you are extremely fast to react and have cover available to make use of.

Well, other than LGBs, LOMAC has everything Falcon does. The difference is Falcon they're all on one plane, in LOMAC you have to fly at least 3 different planes to cover all the same bases.
As for learning controls, I guess it comes from me having flown Flanker and Flanker 2. LOMAC's controls are basically identical to those, with a few additions. I flew those 2 sims both before and after I flew F4.
Also, the fact was before I met up with you guys for the OFP/R6 stuff, I only flew online with Panzer. When he dumped F4, I had no incentive to keep it around and learn the SP stuff.

Well I always loved Flanker series for the sheer feel of the aircraft when flying, you really got a sense of immersion purely with the way the aircraft cockpit responded around you. But I am disappointed in it not being a little more true to form, shame, cos it takes all the fun out of it for me - maybe I was simply expecting too much.

Do keep in mind LOMAC, although coming out 5 years after F4, had a budget only a fraction of the size.
I mean, a 5 year old Porsche will still outperform a brand-new Hyundai any day of the week. ;)
Then they model several planes instead of just one. Flanker always centered on just the Su-27/33, and Flanker Attack was supposed to add the Su-25/39. When Ubi took over SSI the decision was made to broaden the appeal to the US market. I'm not sure whether the A-10 or F-15 were decided on first, but once you had one the other was a logical addition.
The Su-27 was the interceptor and the Su-25 was the CAS plane, so the F-15 covers one angle and the A-10 covers the other.
I suppose the thing that surprised me the most about LOMAC was before release people were CLAMORING for the A-10. I mean, other than the A-10 Cuba games no one had ever done it even semi-seriously before. The F-15C was seen as "Oh, that's nice." Then the game comes out and people are jumping up and down about the shortcomings the Eagle has, even though it was the plane they spent the most time on because its avionics were very different from the other planes. I mean, the AMRAAM shortcomings bothered me, but all this other stuff that was mentioned never did.
Just didn't make sense to me.

I'm now back in to DISH, having got it running. It's a shame it is unstable in MP, has no co-op, and has some lousy missions, cause I really like that game!

Lousy missions? as in difficult and impossible to complete missions?
I have Dish installed on my PC at the moment and with difficulty set to high some of those missions seem impossible.
