W00t!!

In about 5 years of flight sims, I can claim to have entered and held a formation twice.

BOTH OF THESE TIMES WERE TODAY!!!!
AND I HAVE THEM BOTH ON VIDEO!!!!
First time was with a group of Stukas, the second time was with a group of Il-2s.

To tell the truth, I can't wait to get back up with Il-2, so I can formate with real peoplet (the CPU isn't that hard)!!

This can be held in the same kind of awe as simply mid-air re-fueling. I have tried probably a hundred times to refuel, and never managed yet. :(

I've managed to refuel manually ONCE in Jane's USAF, but most of the time, I let the the AP handle it.

In most sims, midair refueling isn't "real"--it's scripted. If you approach the tanker within a certain set of parameters (altitude, heading, and speed) to predefined limits, control of the plane is suddenly taken from you and it automagically happens.
I believe LOMAC 1.1 will introduce "real" AR for the first time in that series, and it should be 10x harder than it is now.

Falcon and Jane's both have real refueling, or you can flip a switch and have the game help you...(if I recall correctly).

Good deal Hammer!

Do you happen to have Pacific Fighters? This is definitely a great franchise...I hope it does not get ruined by "public demand".

Yup i have to say the most frustrating in inflight refueling is in Janes F/A-18 with full realism set for stress paramaters and fueling time, but i done it twice and also shot down the tanker a few times in frustration but the feeling you get when when you get it right is worth all the effort and practice.

Lomac inflight refueling is really easy, it is scripted from the point the tanker calls "Clear Contact" and you just let the auto pilot take it from there till the point your tanks are full and you turn autopilot off and disconect yourself.

Janes F/A-18 on the other hand is really hard with you having to keep total control all the time till tanks are full and disconecting will happen often when just starting. Actually come to think of it just getting conected in Janes F/A-18 is difficult enough when just starting.

I have yet to try re-fueling in Falcon yet, don't know why i haven't but it's something i'll need to try out soon.

Were we not looking for something to try next, inbetween BVR tactics and such? Sounds like a plan to me . . . . . 8)
