Gangs of New York

Have any of you seen this movie?

Wow. Daniel Day Lewis is such an amazing actor. I was just astounded at how well he did in the role of "The Butcher".

I have not seen it. I will most likely wait until it's on the Premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, etc) on Direct TV. I remember it getting some awards/nominations or something.

I loved the movie but my wife didn't like it. She found it so shocking that the US could have been so violent like that in the mid 1800's. I told her "you better believe it!. The American Civil War was a very trying time indeed".

most folks have no clue how violent the past was... Not just here either. Much of it persists to this day. Humans are a violent animal.
