opening ports on a network, how does on do it?

Yes, you will need to forward TCP and UDP traffic for those ports to your computer IP via your router and firewall(If you use one). You will need to access your Router setup configuration. Usually IP# 192.168.1.1 or something similar. Read through the manual for your router for this. Some routers can be accessed through your web browser, and also by using telnet. Example: Run, Telnet 192.168.1.1 , enter Admin name and password, and you should be able to get into the router setup. Once you are in the router setup, look for Port Forwarding. On our Linksys router at work, it's under the ADVANCED tab.


I have a Netgear router at home and it's a bit more complex than the Linksys. I still don't understand half of the stuff in there. But hey, at least it works.

you can name them anything you want - in fact all the different groups can be named the same...(pretty sure on that for d-links...) I would call them ms2002!
