WOF internal weapons/uniforms mod
Moderator: RLG MGMT Team
Grif - and everyone else ...
you should delete the old mod. There should be currently a WOF_Weapons mod and a WOF_Missions mod. The weapons mod will be updated in a few weeks with the pared down and updated weapons, kits and skins. We will add missions (.mis files) to the Missions mod periodically.
The WOF_Weapons mod will allow us to use our uniforms and weapons in any other mod we want.

Gator I hope that idea of recceíng (recon) on a target first, before the attack is a good call - the advantage is supposed to be more info on the target objective. It makes things a little long-winded in some respects, but it may bring an element of realism and excitement through anticipation into things - I mean the personnel left behind at the base location wouldn't know whether their individual job is gonna be a smooth attack or whether they may have to suddenly run out to the ERV (emergency rendezvous point) to assist the recce party to escape) then everyone would have to re-group and ready for the main mission.

Further considerations for the final weapon mod:
H&K UMP.45 (incl. SD variant) maybe with Laser designator/indicator instead of reticle for short range work, or perhaps the option of a x5 sight?
As mentioned tonight; the M4 SOPMOD (incl. SD variant) with the masterKey, M203 options and the poss of a AN / PVS2 sight unit? M203, MasterKey to carry secondary weapon penalties but the AN/PVS2 to come as standard?
gator, how was the ideas I gave for that potential mission? A little to indepth, or something along the lines of what you were looking for? Have I maybe given you some food for thought? Will get back to you on that Creekbed map - but it would be useful to know how to view the map and the setup currently on that mission. Could you perhaps enlighten me as to how I can do that?>
Thanx, Don

Kodiak,
What you gave me is enough to get me thinking about how to build that mission.
If you want to peek at the map and the current setup, just run "Igor" from the GR folder and open the DP06_Creekbed.mis file from the missions folder of Mods\MP1 .... you should see it there ... just make sure you don't overwrite the original files if you make changes...

Okay mate I did that, thanx!
This map would facilitate a head-honcho snatch type mission:
1. Send in a small team to gather the intel for the snatch (say using one of the huts by the road as the suspected location- guard positions, likely position of snatch target, and problematic areas or obstacles, entry & exit points for the snatch team, ERVs, maybe a cut-off team setup along the escape route (support using heavy MG and maybe a claymore with remote detonation).
2. Brief the squad for the mission with the intel given - could that maybe be simulated with the various info placed on the briefing map (all depending on what was "seen" by the recce party.
3. Carry out the mission as per the brief - everyone given a specific job; cut-off, snatch team, AT, route clearance. Maybe even have a diversion where all, or some of the enemy in key areas would be distracted for a set time limit, giving the snatch team an ídeal'opportunity to achieve objective without any fuss (only one or two guards say)
So while the cut-off team works their way round to the cut-off location as briefed by the section commander, the recce party can check the place out
4. IMHO G-R is just begging to have some reality thrown at it by the user! And this is our chance to inject that element of reality (I think ) Well what all this would mean is probably an extra 20 mins or so added to the whole mission, but I think the satisfaction could be enormous - and if it comes off well, then you might consider putting some of these ín-depth' missions onto the net for others to try out - this could then be us (WoF - 5SFG) setting a standard for others here to measure relative performance by.
I know we play for fun mainly but I just want to show how much fun a bit of realism can be, if you put in the effort to have a go at it.
Regards, Don
p.s. I know this isn't easy work for you, and if I am asking a little too much with some of these suggestions then jusy tell me where to get off, okay mate?!

Not a bad little piece of kikt that AK-5, as for the M240, that's a very similar item to our LMG (Light Machine Gun) which is the successor to the famous Bren Gun. The Bren gun was, believe it or not, reported to be TOO accurate with it's spread of fire for a machine gun during WW Two, and was found to be very useful for sniping small groups of enemy soldiers with a brief burst of automatic fire. Bit of trivia for you there!

Gator,
Here is a nice site with links you may find useful as far as weapons is concerned:

and something else maybe worth checking if you don't already know about it:

Weapons
I used the Rifleman kit #81 (FNFAL 7.62 X5 scope + Grenades) last night and it is fantastic. Great stopping power, and the ability to kill team members with grenades. I am in heaven.
RM kit #81 is my new favorite kit.
Excellent maps we played last night Gator, you did a great job man. That swamp mission was most excellent. I wish I had the talent to make maps from scratch, that would be so cool. I am not familiar with 3DS Max, nor do I have the time to learn. Maybe someday I will, someday.
Also, the WOF patch on the Unis is a nice touch, it really stands out. Most excellent. Good job.

Well you have this innate ability to pop me in the middle of the forehead when the situation occurs - so I'll take THAT comment with a pinch of salt, heh?!
Anyways, as far as weapon requests are concerned for our mod finalisation - I was concerned that perhaps my requests would fall short of the realism mark, so I went a hunting. Checked the H&K sites I could find and for the weapons I had in mind, found the following:
PSG-1; exists. Nothing much to say except probably the best available choice of sniping weapon IMHO of course. The H&K SMG 11 would probably be an ideal and realistic choice as a back-up wepaon here too.
SL8 Sniper rifle; exists! Derived from the G36 rifle. There is a US model known as SL8-1, which has a magazine content restriction of 10 rds. I found no reference to scopes available, nor did I find any info to support the existence of the SL9 (a silenced version of the SL8). This is classed as a civilian (not restricted to mil or Police) weapon.
H&K USC.45 Carbine; exists! Is classed as a civilian weapon. Is effectively the rifle version of the UMP.45 (I knew there was a reason I liked this damn thing so much! ) There are noreferences to the possible attachments on this weapon, and the same goes for the UMP version too. This will need looking into to confirm there is nothing we can do to enhance this weapon for our own benefits, but I'd rather keep things realistic on that side of life.
H&K UMP.45; exists! The close quarter version of the USC. Found no references to possible attached accessories such as silencer, or laser designator, or scope unit (shame really! but I still want one! And with the option of carrying grenades, demo charges, extra ammo, C4 remote detonating charges ( these are things you could carry in your top pocket 2 in each proably and still carry a secondary - infact everyone could carry C4 charges for blowing doors on forced entries! Hint, hint! Or maybe flashbangs if someone can devise something of that nature).
H&K AG36; exists! Grenade launcher attachment, and appears to have a small scope, but that needs checking because i could not find any reference to that!
MM1; exists. Not much to say about this except you could carry a pistol with, or a few grenades - yes grenades! think about that one! And again C4 charges and demo charges, extra rounds for the MM1.
The M4 series is self-explainatory; there are a variety of attachments, some of which can be combined - AN / PVS2 scope, laser marker/designator, M203 or M240? MasterKey? Silencer unit.SOCOM or SOPMOD, I believe it is the same weapon. Anyway it all works for me that stuff.
MG-3; Yep, I need say nothing here - most of us probably appreciate this one for what it is in comparison to the other choices.
That is about as narrow as I can make it for my suggestions as far as weaponry is concerned. Hell if I knew how to I'd the weapon modding for the team and save you the trouble mate. But could I make one final suggestion from me - please make all the weapons you put in , available with as much choice of secondary as realism would permit. And the C4 "forced entry" devices idea - do you think we could make that work? It would really only be for accessing locked doors, or dangerous access points where enemy are suspected to be hiding behind! I guess 2 to4 per team member would suffice!
Anyway hope I have stirred up the proverbial hornets' nest here, enough to get everyone thinking and voicing their ideas and maybe we could have someone else start to think about which weapons and kits that no-one uses and to suggest we get rid of them. C'mon ev eryone, pick a team member type and let's start whittling away all those unused kits. The more feedback we give Gator, the easier we make a decision for him in this department. As a starter for ten - is there really anyone here who uses many of those Soviet weapon kits? See that would be almost 50% gone already!
More food for thought Gator, dude!

Okay you support weapon freaks, I have found a potential havoc wreaker in the NMM weapons mod v2.1b - an M134 MiniGun!!
This weapon is very same as seen in the Predator movie, when the guy mows down half the jungle around himself. I'm currently running it through a few trial missions of choice to get a feel for it's usefulness, and realistic modelling (it may need to be tweaked slightly, but looks fairly dead-on from my angle!) The best thing we could probably do to make this acceptably fair would be to slow the character movement to compensate for it's awesome firepower and of course the natural weight of the thing.
Prolonged firefights? NO CONTEST!! This thing is a winner, and the great thing about it is that it is REAL! But I would dearly love to get onto the manufacturer's site and check-up on some performance stats, where it may be possible to model-in overheating or malfunctioning. Which shouldn't be difficult given that the machine guns we find dotted around the mapos do this very well!
Everyones' views on this one would appreciated, because we are talking about tipping the scales somewhat as far as advantage of firepower is concerned. But the final decision will rest with you guys, I just enjoy throwing suggestions into the pot!

Right this weapon mod series can be found on the GhostRecon.net site under equipment mods. Don't forget to d/l and install the v2.1b patch that goes with it! Then just the usual stuff for activating thr mod - I also used DS to get a little variety on maps to test on.
You only need to blip the throttle a dozen times and your empty, so that will be testy for those with a hunger for full auto!! have fun.
regards, Don
p.s. I have also d/l'd the sniper armoury 1.3 mod to have a look at some of the weapons in there - over 200 kits!! Anyway I concentrated on the sniping weapons to get an idea for feel and likes - but still have a list of some 25 rifles - all with their own attributes; ranging from good sound repro and accuracy to fast into position weapon reticle recovery times they all have something to offer - some are just downright outrageous IMHO but that;'s why we have to go play, heh?! I have compiled a provisional shortlist and will need to go through it with Steel, Gator and of corurse any special requests.
