Its the truth!!

Post by GlasgowCelts »

You have to check this out, tho i dont know how authentic it actually is, i can well nelieve it happened.........The following is the transcript of an ACTUAL radio conversation in October
1995, between a US Navy ship off the coast of England, and a British Maritime
authority. The transcript was released by the MoD on 10/10/95.

BRITS: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South, to avoid a
collision.

AMERICANS: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the North, to avoid
a collision.

BRITS: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the South
to avoid a collision.

AMERICANS: This is the Captain of US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR
course.

BRITS: Negative. I say again. You will have to divert your course.

AMERICANS: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN. THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP
IN THE UNITED STATES' ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS,
THREE CRUISERS, AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR
COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH. THAT'S 15 DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER MEASURES WILL BE
UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

BRITS: We are a lighthouse. Fuck off.

:P

That one is soooo old, it almost predates Marconi. Always a big ship and a lighthouse though.

Odd, the first time I heard that one Glas it was a Canadian light house and a USN Carrier Group. I wonder if the incident actually ever happened and who were involved?

Best one I heard was radio traffic between a American Airlines 747 capt. and the Frankfurt ground controller. Now the controllers at Frankfurt havethe rep for being......well...very effecient Germans. They are perfectionists and expect all the aircrews traveling around thier airspace and taxiways to be the same. I am paraphrasing a bit here so bear with me..........

FGC...American 421heavy...turn right from hold, taxiway 12 Alpha to the American Terminal.

AA..(never having been to this airport before, the 747 captian asks where the terminal is located)...Roger ground, taxiway 12 alpha to terminal...where exactly IS the terminal?

FGC..American 421 heavy....what do you mean? Have you never been to Frankfurt before?

AA...umm...roger...it was 1944 and I didnt land. I was in a different Boeing product........

If I can find it I'll post the whole thing.
