Buffalo UP!.....Repeat Buffalo UP!

Post by Buffalo Six »

Well my PC went tits up last night. I hope it's a power source issuse and not something more serious. I installed a BT program last night and it asked for a reboot. It hung on the reboot so I hit reset and nothing...it's either the power button or the power source died. I'll keep you advised.

Hondo has the helm while I go try to get the parts from supply, and we all know how that goes.

Used my own supply form.......a pry-bar! Did a little midnight requisition on the local DC supply hut over near their garrison down by the river. Hell we all know they make all these damn things anyway...why not go to the source!!!!!!!!

I'm offended! Now I've done some dodgy stuff over the years but getting involved in the used Awesome trade is an out right insult! I admit to selling diluted coolant to my boys, snake oil to BH and fake leather mech interiors to Slam but Awesome parts!

Sorry to hear that Buffalo Six. I myself was recently infected with the Trojan Dropper Virus and had to Reformat. My computer was acting funny for awhile and freezing up on me when I started to run other programs. Trojan Dropper infects EXE. Files and can result in crashing your computer completely after a period of time. I found it with my Nortons Anti Virus Program and could not delete the file it was in. " This is why I had to Reformat" My OS scanned my HDD in Dos Mode and found Corrupt sectors that it had to bypass before reformatting. Yes , I just bought this HDD a few weeks ago and it's not decomposing already. Turns out that I lost 3.87 MB on my HDD after running the Scan. What a Hassle ! "I left out the part where I had to try and try again before it finally worked" This Trojan Dropper just came out last month in July 2002 and originated in China, It's a SPY Ware program that can use your ISP at will. I sure hope you don't have it. BTW I got the Virus after Down loading a file form a file sharing program on the net. These days recently,....While down loading from file sharing,.. I noticed that I'm down loading at high speeds with my DSL but am not receiving anything on a few files. Is this Trojan Dropper actually gone for good ?? Even after re-formatting ? I dunno yet. I might have to pull my new HDD and chuck it if this keeps up. If you have a Virus protector , please scan new files regularly , and good luck on getting your computer up and running.

Falker,
Unless it was a boot sector virus it is gone if you reformatted. Now if it was in a file you reinstalled after reformatting, then...

You should have no bad sectors on your new disk. If you do I would take it back and get a new one if at all possible. Once they start going bad it is usually a domino effect....

As far as downloads go, it will depend on where the file is and what kind of server is serving it up - there could be internet problems between you and it or the server load could be high or a number of other things...
