Justice, i think i heard of that setup, isnt is some sort of microphons placed threwout the city? and when a shot is fired they can tell pretty accuratly the location by what mics picked it up and intensity of the sound. i thought it was a cool setup myself when i heard about it. this guy looks a bit spread out in his area, too bad something like that isnt setup there. proably just too much space to cover though.

I know it is based on acoustics but I am not real sure about the specifics. I know our SWAT was testing it as well as our East Los Angeles station. Like I said I'm just a grunt so they dont tell me these things, we have to read about them in the dept magazine lol

Not sure I feel it's terrorist related. If it were , their would be a small cell of them spreading their wrath in different locations at a unique time and place. Organized to add the most fear to the public.
Shooting ppl sporadically sounds like another nut case trying to make head lines. I feel it's just another wacko or wacko's gang that has nothing better to do then try to add fear to the public that they hate because they are not part of it.

Now thats like putting a red flag in front of the bull.if you want to debate the right to defend yourself and the 2nd Amendment, I would open a new thread. Seriously. And be prepared to back your opinion with fact, regardless of what side your on.
From what I see part of the problem is that people take that to mean in the states everyone, regardless of their mental state, occupation, religion or personal ethos can bear a gun and defend their point of view?

If you are brought up in a culture where guns are not an integral part of your society, then Malin's thinking would be the average man's thinking (and is my own).
It's a matter of whether you want to live with the culture where every man has the right to defend himself with firearms, but also every man has the right to carry the same firearms and hurt the indefensible....
or whether you want to live in a country where if you have a gun pulled on you, you are part of a small minority of that country that have ever seen a real live gun, never mind being faced with one in a threatening situation.
In retrospect tho, there are many countries where it is legal to carry firearms. The authorities in Balkan states, Middle East etc dont seem to consider it a threat.

NEVER get in to an argument with a stupid person......they will just drag you down to their level then beat you with experience
LOL...ok guys getting out of topic here. Remember i posted this to c what you guys think about the DC shootings and and maybe some ideas on who and how him/they have being able to operate in a highly populated area not about gun control/rights.
BB if you want to open a topic on this go for it...just remember that what you are talking about is highly political.

Since the banning of firearms in the UK the level of gun crime has risen alarmingly. In London, and some other major British cities, police firearms units are becoming a growth industry to cope with the increase. The majority of the gun crime is drugs related but is starting to filter down to muggings and car-jacking.
In some States of the US, where covert carry is allowed to certificated (notice I did not say certifiable ) citzens, street crime has dropped but the incidence of road-rage killings rose by the same rate.

I take offense at this statement.if you are indefensible, then you have chosen to be. It is no different than your right to stand on the street corner and wave a sign saying "May the Queen burn in Hell!", or "President Bush is Gay", or "Glaz has a small winkie"
I will no longer be posting on this thread or any others of it's nature

i just wanted to say thanks for everyone keeping things in perspective and peacefull One of the reasons i didnt lock this thread right off is becuse i felt then that we could talk about this without going off any handles or anything and you all have proven me right so far and for that you got my deepest thanks. Its been great over the years being such a diverse group of ppl and being able to hear about different points of view on things. now this is the ELH i know and love. i know myself over the years have talked with you all about all kinds of taboo subjects and i have learned alot from those. from religion to politics etc. i guess the best thing is true acceptance of the other person, rather we agree or not is the key, and i believe the sucess of ELH.

Well try living in Southern California. We Have loads of gangs over this way with plenty of gang related deaths. On top of that there's the whacked out people who kill there next door neighbors and then take their own life at the end. Not to mention all the people on drugs giving police car chase down the 10 Fwy along with kidnappings and so on and so on and so on. The News Media has become really depressing here these last few years trying to dramatize all the bad news here in So Cal. Heck ,..a few weeks ago some 35 year old Caucasian guy was tracked down and got blown away with a shot gun a few blocks from my house because he told a Spanish guy not to graffiti on the bus stop bench. They never found the killer. This shit has been happing over here for years . I've just learned how to tune it out after awhile. I guess IM saying that there is some crazy people out there and seeing it happen in WA DC is nothing new for me except that it's happing over there too. Just don't let the Media get to ya and you'll be fine , I Promise....
So That's my opinion.... Who's up for some flap jacks ??
Peace Out ~~~> Falker

Good point Falker. Southern California has been a warzone for a long time. This area is in constant transition from black to hispanic to eastern european back to white then to hispanic or black again so that brings problems as cultures try to integrate.
Los Angeles though actually has a lower murder rate than most cities (i.e Dallas, Houston, D.C, Miami) Alos the police forces here may have less arrests than east coast depts we arrest more violent felons than those same depts.
Anyways not trying to downplay whats going on in DC the shooter will be caught eventually as I said in a previous post he will be caught because of complicity on his part

Well, looks like its all over now....hopefully.
I had a feeling there would be some sort of family connection involved, tho step-father and son wouldnt have been top of my list. Is there the death penalty in Washington state? Here's hoping.
I have to say tho, having seen how easy someone could do it, i just hope some other nutter doesnt decide to pick up where they left off.

Well the murders occurred in Maryland, Virginia and possibly Alabama. All of those states are death penalty states I believe. If they are convicted in Alabama, they are done....in the south they execute em quick
:salut:
This was good police work despite what has been stated on the news

Hmmmm. Im intrigued how you can come to this conclusion about someone you know nothing of BB. Based on your quote, it would apply more to your statement imho.Big Benn wrote:Especially by someone who does not know any better.
I dont see where the need to attack ppl personally came from. Have i missed something?

Ob: That is exactly the point i was trying to make. I dont think there has EVER been a discussion on these forums that everyone has agreed on, and we have discussed some fairly controversial topics. At the end of it all tho, despite the differences of opinion we have always agreed to disagree.
Someone having a different point of view from yourself should not be seen as confrontational. Personally i prefer to let myself be educated by the wide and varied people we have in this Unit. But just because i respect them as ppl and respect their opinions, it doesnt mean they are the same opinions as mine. That is the way we have always treated each other, i havent seen anything happening that suggests that should change.
Everyone in ELH must realise we are all on the same side, regardless of where we are from. If someone has an issue with another, it should be kept in email, or at least in the Mess hall.
