MW4:Mercs and League Issues

Post by Buffalo Six »

Guys dont go running out and pick up mercs right off the bat. From what I have read in the past 24 hrs., The DEV team has removed the No-Respawn option from the server controls and replaced it with some "Counter-Striky" wave thing. At least the guys that are running the media release are finding this to be so. The DEV team is being very silent on the issue leading to the fear that the No-Respawn game type is gone. This will have a huge impact on league play and the MW4 community is going apeshit. What they have found with this wave game type called "Team Battle" is that you cant just leave after all the players die, the map still runs to the time limit. So this has the potential of gutting league play on servers like Homelan unless they want to have 1 guy watch all those server during all league drops.

I'll try to keep you informed.

ok neadless to say m$ let ther emarketing department do the planing on this. Actualy for some reason from what I keep hearing the marking team have a lot of say in productc. More so then they should. Neadles to say a marketing drown is realy not what mech needs to be getting design orders form. Eathern way what the leages should do is get all members to e mail m$ and bitch them out for being well assess.

Hey buff where u get this info and hell when is mircs out ???

MechCommander 2
windows 95/98/me
clippy (he finealy dead)

I could kep going on and on but hey I don;t need to. Ben m$ realy just makes products and tossess lots of cash at marketing untel someone buys it. Sinple. But unlike other code there sucks. I give cred where cred is due,and M$ realy has only a small amount of cred due. Win 2000 is a decent home pc system (NOT A NETWORK SYSTEM). Mech 4 was done prity good, but hey we still had a lot of bugs, lazer bug and ppc bug. Man I hate not having my ppc for so long. So if M$ gets it right well then we got lucky. If they screw up don't be suprised. I rmeber when mechcommander was comming out, I thought 1/2 of HS was going to split off to do mechcommander, but then it turned out that it network play SUCKED and other issues. It never got big. So ehy leyts see what happens but don't hold breath.

Actually Veg, I got my boss (Architek) playing Mech for awhile. My desk is littered with projects and Mechs, and it has been a pretty good recruiting tool. I've played MW3 or 4 online with 12 or 13 of my coworkers, Mincemeat, Hulk, and Hog Wylde most notably. It's not so much getting caught I'm worried about, but how to bill the time.

so you want to know how to play games and get payed for it I like that thinking

but hey could say its group stress management which is required for big hard jobs and can be written off so should be payed for.

Also you need to test your networks / computers on a general bases and the best way to do this is to have a lot of trafic and have 1 computer moniter the network with some motering program and tells you any issues. the best way for lots of traffic is of corse gaming. Also benifate of this one is that it can help the gaming as you well find issues in network cassing a lag issue. fix the issue and well hey you well gat that dam boss in the raven next time.

I thiink that should do :gulp:

here is a sampling of threads at DSC:

ChaosGryphon :

Grab your seats and try not to throw them at your monitor or your nearest DEV. You have to remember this is a BETA... and i pray that what i saw tonight aint the way its shipping.. Does this give you a heads up on the bad news I am about to give yall.. Also Dark the Game Center gent did not want me opening a text editor on his system. He let me do alot of things but opening games files he was not comfortable with. sorry. If a DEV reads this and I missed something or I am flat out WRONG, Please CORRECT me ASAP!!!

(AT THE TIME OF THIS POST I DID NOT SEE THE NBT4 INFO post http://www.dropshipcommand.com/dcforum/ ... /3068.html but this still has no definite answers and if it is server side, does this mean as in a dedicated server setting or as a lay-player who would like to enjoy no "classic" 1 life no-respawn without going into the server text file?)

#1. I hope you No Respawn Leagues are a forgiving bunch.. I played a no-respawn match in a multitude of ways. first i tried no respawn 1 v 1 with only the NoRespawn box checked. Well i blew away the target and the game reset. Just like in the BK Strongholds and Seige games. Then I got blown away and the game restarted again after I died. Now i didnt go for the whole 10 minutes to see how it scored but dont yall play destruction anyways? Anyhow , I dropped back out the lobby and set the frag limit to 1 as well as had the no respawn checked. (I know that was a screw up) However i played again and when i killed him game was over. Then i tried it with just frag limit set with the same results. then i remembered frag is the kill limiter in the game so i was saying when 1 mech dies game is over. Well to confirm this i added 5 bots for a 3 v 3 and as soon as 1 died game was over. I did this with No Respawn checked and unchecked. However te only thing i did not try was to set a high frag limit and have the no respawn selected. This is my theory. Since you have no respawn selected, you die and go into specator mode. Then you have the Frag limit set to 1 less the max ammount of players in the game. In this event lets say you have 16 players. If everything works out correctly and when a player gets killed they cannot respawn. When the 15th player is killed it stops the match. but now that i think about it this would not work either would it? Cause what happens if team 1 sucks and team 2 blows them outta the water. that would still leave 7 lives waiting. and if you set a lower limit then the game might end prematurely. dang DEVs, I hope there is a way to edit this in the *.NF? for the game or that since this a BETA somethings are not quite done. (pray) If not then DEVS you just pissed off alot of folks. even me and I dont play no respawn that much.. PLEASE GIVE SOME CORRECT SCOOP IF MINE AINT IT!(Also if you select the Mission Play Game-Type, it auto sets to no-respawn.)

Ok now that you no respawners are a little upset let me continue with what else i have found out about the game.

#2. Ok they have given us this wonderful new weapon called the ARROW-IV and it has a range of 1200 meters YIPPIEE!!! Ready for this? It will only lock up a target at 1000 meters. I tried this on a LAKESIDE type map and i could see my target DAISHI with BAP at 1200. IT was a NIGHT game and I saw his headlight straight on. I held reticle over the target at 1150 meters and it didnt even go red. It did not LOCK. It would not LOCK until DAISHI was at 1000 meters. ( On the good side 3 pairs of ARROW-IV-TB cored a daishi alone. ) I tested this a bunch of times. WHAT GOOD IS A LOCKABLE WEAPON THAT WILL NOT EVEN LOCK AT ITS RANGE?? TRUE I CAN DUMBFIRE BUT JEES..

Ok those were the 2 Biggies that wanted to be tested. I do have other information here for you to read. I just want you to take a deep breath and remember: this is a BETA (Pray some things were still being worked on when they let ths puppy out).

#3. Ok next some good news..maybe.. from what i saw LAMS still does affect LRM 5's. However the LAMS now has a recycle time. Now i dont know if it had one last time casue i never used LRM 5 .. this was my test.. I loaded up a LONGBOW with 12 lrm 5 and loaded LAMS up on a HAUPHTMAN. when i chainfired the first 1 or 2 groups were taken out but then like 5 or 6 would hit followed by 1 or 2 more groups taken out ( sometimes looked like 3 groups) followed by a bunch of hits. Does this sound like what AMS/LAMS does now or are chainfired LRM 5s totally wiped out by a AMS/LAMS carrying mech in the VENG/BK games?

#4. As Jay has posted before LIGHT AMP is now standard on all mechs. However as before you cannot use zoom and LightAmp together. Of course i was using normal zoom... Maybe if you get adv optics you can zoom while in Light Amp mode, but i doubt it.

#5. Good NEWS to all you FAFNIR fearing folks. I double checked the equipment carried by the FAFNIR. It does NOT carry ADV-GYRO. It is still lethal though..

#6. SKINS- It appears that they have added quite a few new skins and have changed the defaults on the ingame team maps. no more red vs blue.. Also the SKINs for the MAIN MERC UNIT appear to be in the game. number 38 = RedGrid (GDL?) nice black skin with red lines. Number 39 = TARTAN ( Northwind Highlanders ) green skin with plaid patches. Number 40 = KELL HOUND ( i think this belongs to the Kell Hounds. ) Red all over with black strippings. NUMBER 41 = DRAGOON ( again i think this belongs to Wolf's Dragoons.) Sry for the humor.. umm this is a red upper body skin with blackened legs.

and last but not least....

#7. GAMETYPE DESCRIPTIONS:

BATTLE & TEAM BATTLE (The Descriptions are exactly alike except in BATTLE there are no teammates so no worries about the neg points for killing team mate)

Like Destruction, but points are awarded by damage dealt and scaled based on your chassis.

Point of damage inflicted on opponent...+1 x chassis bonus
Destroying enemy weapon...+25
Destroying enemy 'Mech...+100 X chassis bonus

Point of self-inflicted damage...-1
Destroying own weapon...-5
Destroying own 'Mech...-500
Killing teammate...-100 X chassis bonus

Note that the score losses are generally only for self-inflicted damage. Being killed by another player only adds to their score, it doesn't hurt yours.

DESTUCTION / TEAM DESTRUCTION:

As simple as it gets.

Each kill is worth 1 point.
Teammate kills are worth -1 point.
Suicides are -1 points.

MISSION PLAY:

There are two teams in this game: the Blue Team (Team 1) and the Red Team (Team 2). Each teams' goals are defined by the objectives of each map. Team wins are awarded for completing your stated objectives or by destroying all members of the other team.
Individual scores are assigned, as well, so teammates can gauge their relative standings. Individual scores are calculated as follows:

Destroying enemy turret...+6
Destroying enemy 'Mech...+21
Destroying objective building...+40

Suicide...-20

Note: All Mission Play missions are meant for longer gaming sessions. An ideal game is 30 minutes or more. Any game less than 10 minutes will not give the teams enough time to accomplish their objectives.

And what was found about the maps and map sizes:

Dark DeLaurel:
As promised here it goes these are just short blurbs on the maps. I do have screen shots of each, but my ISP called while i was at work and i am guessing its in reguards to my bandwidth usage (i am allowed to run the server, but i am sure we pushed a few gig in a day or two). So i cant put the pictures up until i call them in the morning to see what they wanted.
Alpine
Medium sized map, team one and two start about 1550m away from each other. It depends on where people drop as i have been further
away and other times closer. Typical cold map, lots of trees and also lots of fog about the map as you can see from the screen shots.
Many spots prove to be good high ground spots for sniping or missile support, but with the think fog it will make either of those two
options pretty tough.

coliseum
Small sized map, this is pretty much identical to the one from the `Mech packs so no need to go in to detail of the map. Textures look
a lot better as you can see from the screen shots.

concourse
Large sized map, i would say this is like Big city only a lot bigger. There seems be a lot better flow to the map in general, also
as you can tell from the screen shots there are road signs and billboards everywhere. This map seems to be on the planet of New Avalon
i can not say anything about heat as i was in a Gauss Rifle Summoner, but i am guessing standard heat for this map.

defiance
Big medium sized map, i say this because its a pretty big map but the start points are pretty close together. The map is a night map
similar to Gator Bait, as you can see from the screens. Interesting spot is the small volcano in the lower right coner by team 1 drop
zone. The map has fairly good visibilty, and also a small town, which is supposed to be one of Defiance Industries research facilities.

factory
Small map, this is pretty much identical to the one from the `Mech packs so no need to go in to detail of the map.

gladiatorpit
Small sized map, this is pretty much the same map as Coliseum, but they added some water to it and now there is big open area in the center.
Which is surrounded by walls for the most part as you can see from the screen shots.

Jungle
Small map, yet another map made for brawling. As you can see has some nice colour to it along with there being a small volcano and lots
of water for all to use.

Manorhouse
Big medium sized map, the teams start of "fairly" close together, but the map itself is pretty big. There are not many high ground spots
for people to snipe or missile from. There is a fair amount of fog to cut this down also, one other thing to note is the abundance
of water, so people will probably sticking to the two rivers in the map. Other then that it is a nice looking map, from the quick go
of it i seen.

Oilspill
This is a Large map, think of it as a bigger version of Lakefront. A bit of land then the rest is water, but the visibility here
is pretty low, about 1000m i would say. Other then that look at the screens to see how it looks.

Paradise
Large map, lots of trees on it so some people will have a FPS problem with the map. Lots of water also, along with a lot of rolling
hills, so look for some pretty interesting combat in this map.

Rubblepile
Small map, this is a varient of Factory. Raised area in the center with some buildings and walls, around the outside of the map is
a lava flow which will heat up mechs pretty good.

Sanddunes
Large map, has a small city near team ones dropzone. Visibilty is roughly 1000m, a fair amount of small hills but nothing major in
the way of size. Should prove to be interesting, with the visibilty and the new ERLL stats.

Shoreline
Large map, with lots of water to one side. This one would be a cross between Lakefront and Timberline, i say this because of the sie
outlined by water then to the other side is lots of rolling wooded areas. Team one starts out in a makeshift town which is right
beside the water.

Tropical
Small map, this is another map pulled from the single player Solaris battles. Lots of water, some land, lots of trees, some walls.
Really this map is nothing special but would work as a good FFA map but i dont think it will work well as a Team map.

Tumbleweed
Large map, this map is pretty damn huge. As team one starts off with a mountain range behind them they are able to climb and
access another 1/4 of the map by the look of it. Lots of places for people to snipe or missile from, the visiblity seems to be
good also.

Also the admin over at NBT have confirmed what they are seeing on DCS so if DOES look like the DEV team made drastic changes to the game typs and server settings. So as i said before, do some research before you shuck out the 50 bones for the game.
