Favourite mechs
Here's my pick of the bunch and why.....
1. Thanny. If 'cos i just love it' is not reason enough, then what about dual lgauss and erll, added to JJs, a nice speed even with only 1 ton extra, excellent armor (imo). 360 torso however is the icing on the cake for the thanny, and why it is so much better than the BK. I'd gladly give up an extra erll (which you can fit on BK) for my 360 torso so thanny is top of the pile for me.
I love JJs btw
2. Cougar. Less than half the weight of a madcat, but double the speed and 3 erll is a lethal combination. And yet again, the good old JJs. I would much rather go in a 1 on 1 fight with cougars than with madcats. But i still love my madcat....
3. Madca.... whaddya mean you already guessed??? Seriously, in the hands of a really good pilot, i have seen this mech scoring 17-0 in open servers. Okay so it is a pure laserboat when it is at its strongest (you have msle option and 2 omnis as well tho) and so is much frowned upon. Having said that, i'd rather go in to a fight with madcats covering my ass than, say, buffs like the daisy

Hey Glas,
Good idea for a post! I'm not at home so I can't pull up all the specs on my designs, plus, most of my favs got eradicated when I had to reinstall everything (due to the Clan Pack debacle).
Thanny- for most stuff I like to use the one that Ob suggested- a CG, LG, plus some ERLLs & JJs. For close in stuff, I really love one with 3 lb10x and 2 erll. I've found it to be really lethal in city street combats. I scored some of my earliest kills in MLL drops using one with a big AC20..slow but deadly!
Vulture- It seems the VultureBoat has become passe, but I had a lot of fun in it when I first started playing multiplayer. I just haven't seen them available, or even used very much, in drops.
Shadowcat - I like a higher speed one with 3 ERLL, or a bit slower one with LRM20s or an LBx10. It runs a bit hot but I like how well it can zig-zag and throw off opponent's aim.
Cougar- haven't used it a lot with was always fun to chase Pain in CTF games. Not sure if it was a Coug or a Raven, but it was fun to take a PPC and try to frazzle the electronics on the flag guardians before making the rush in.
MadCat- darn good mech but I've never been able to do one justice. I've done OK in the 6ERLL model, or one with 4 ERLL and the LRMs.

hehe, here we go:
Thor, ER PPC, CGuass, ER large CLBXAC10
Loki, Same as Slammy (I built it 1st! )
Scat, 2 ER large, CLBXAC10, SSRM6
Highlander, 2x cGuass, 1x Lt Guass, 3 ER Large (2 ER large on a hot map because this mech has no heatsinks).
BK, Variations on 2 Cguass 2 ER PPC and JJ's trade in the ER PPC's for ER large depending on the map.
I have some interesting Mercs configs for Hellhounds and Sunders I'm working on that I'll post up in a few days.
BTW. Can this post be moved into the Mess Hall otherwise any opposing unit just needs to make a note of this post and know what configs we'll be in when we face them in battle.

well as you all know, I have piloted EVERY meck in the hanger and can do well in any meck. But as for favorates man thats hard
Thanatose, man 360 torso twist baby and a lot of room for BLISTICS, long or short it is a must meck to have in any army
Uzi, again can carry blistics, energy easealy, and has good speed. And execelent manuverability
madcat, Depends do I just want to kill you at range a lot, well a mad cat WAS the way to go, not sure in mercs tho
Highlander Man this meck is just a fun design, i got 3 light gass and somthing else it can give a lot and take a lot
Helspawn man origionaly this meck looks useless, but man can it ever pack a good punch

well so much for internal ELH mech construction secrets ;) LOL its realy no biggy i think at this point. just something to think about this being on the general forum. on the other hand, those with the skills we probably realy need to worry about in league play probably know full well about these configs and many others so no harm done.
the mech configs i seem to like best latly require practice to realy use effectivly. one such config in mw4 and BK is a CERL.cLRM 20 madcat. it hasts 4 cERLs and 2 cLRM20s it is NBT compliant and used properly is a good mech. it also includes BAP in the basic package. The lasers are used for the main weapons being they have the punch required to do the most damage. the cLRM20s are mainly to soften up any mechs out of range. the BAP makes it possible to lock on quickly. however keep in mind that if someone on the oposing team has a BAP equiped missile mech they are able to lock on to you quicker as well. when your tagets gets within closer range and within the range of your lasers you use the missles to knock your targets aim off balance long enough to let your lasers to recharge. so basikly the fire sequence is lasers, missles, lasers, missles etc. its a good mech as it stands. however with some practice and with practice in useing building cover and hills, this mech can be very destructive and very effective.
another one of my faverite configs is a highlancer equiped with jump jets. 3 lt guass and 1 ERPPC. this mech is NOT NBT compliant, but it is fairly easy to make it so by replaceing the ERPPC with a PPC. the thing with guass and PPC mechs is i find the weapons tend to have quirky damage. it does seem to be fixed some in mercs however. this mech is best used to sneak around taken pop shots at mechs hiding behind hills. this is best done buy turning radar off. another thing to keep in mind is it does take some practice to get guass and PPCs to hit target as the weapons fire flight time tends to take a small bit of time to reach its target.

I don't mix tech in my mechy's, so here it goes:
Hunchback: Hgauss, LL
Mad Cat(can it be):
1) ERL(mostly BK, way to hot for Mercs)
2) ERPPC, ERL(mercs)
3) ERL, LRM20(mercs and BK)
4) AC10, ERL(mercs)
Cauldron Born: ERPPC LRM20
Loki: AC10, mERL
Puma: ERPPC or mERL boat(kinda cheap but ok in zone match)

Let's be honest about it, if there is any team willing to go to the lengths of scanning another team's forums for mech configs, then listing and completely memorizing everybody in that Unit's configs so that maybe, just maybe, they come up on a one on one against that person and therefore have the upperhand on them, then i take my hat off to them and will accept i have a real fight on my hands.
Also, what is the chances of the mechs you post as your best configs being the actual mech you get assigned in a drop? And also, it would be fair to grant the opposition with at least the sense to know that if your taking a madcat, its certainly not going to be a stock one! Every mech has its strongest point. I could tell an oppo what im hitting him with before i do it. If my aim is true enough, there's not much he can do about it. They might know what mechs we like, but they cant know what tactic and range were going to use.
I dont see harm in this thread being here and actually posted it here for a good reason. We have had a few visitors recently to these parts and i thought it could have been nice for them to participate in it if they wanted to. I can understand why some people might find it a bit sensitive tho.

LOL, this sounds like another forum where I think the result was "Know the capabilities of the opponents planes and learn to judge E states before you post".
Point taken Glas, we all know the best configs for each type of mech and unlike another mutual game we play it all boils down to whether your opponent is a good shot or a crap shot.
