If i rember correctaly (have not red the book) he was inline to the thrown, but some political BS got him in deap shit and he flead.
Ya ya i know sopose to think this off the top of my head but hey I am bad for names but i knew where it was.
Also If i rember correctaly. It was not called Lacrosse byt he clanners as it was a little diffrent in the fact u can hurt oponents and case there team to lose points.
I only finished the kerenskey triligy a few months ago
Working on a lot more now, 5 sorce books and Wolfs on the border

Kai's mech was called Yen Lo Wang (which was a centurion i think), who i beleive was a Chinese god of death, or something similar. One of the variants had special myomer fibres that made it stronger when they were running at a higher temperature, enabling him to perform greater feats of strength with his mech, such as carry a couple of mcats over a cliff to save Victor Davions life.

In 3021, a Lyran Commonwealth unit known as Carlyle's Commandos were sent to garrison Trell I, a backwater world near the coreword edge of Lyran space. In the winter of 3024, a politically ambitious Kurita noble, Duke Hassid Ricol, attacked the world in an attempt to torpedo an agreenment between the Commonwealth and a Perihery bandit king--and to win control of the tactically useful planet for his own ends. The attack destroyed the Commandos, killing unit commander Durant Carlyle and sending his son, Grayson Death Carlyle, into hiding. Determined to avenge his fathger's death, Grayson recieved his chance when fate put him in the middle of a firefight between Treel infanrty forces and 'Mechs belonging to Duke Ricol. By seizing command of the faltering infanrty, Grayson managed to take down a Wasp and capture a Locust intact. This was the birth of the Gray Death Legion--one functioning 'Mech and a handful of motorized infantry.

Well Buff I have to look that up as well hehehe. I honestaly don't quite know that much. I think part of the answer is int he same novel, but not sure ehehhe.
And Trell was correct. But still that dose not name the unit that used the wasp and locus to help drive the DC off planet and became the Merc unit >:)=
