Again, yup I'm getting older and gone are the days I could stay up till 4am playing MW, have two hours sleep and go to work feeling fine.
Having recently discovered that grey hair does mean your're getting old and that staying up to 4am now means I'm comatose the rest of the day I'm putting the mech in the garage and hanging the keys up on the hook.
You may see me occasionally but as my skills have gone gaga (No more 100% CT hits) and my brain has gone mushy I'll not be around at all (Not that I was much basically because I could never figure out what TS channel we were on or what time GMT practises were).
If you need to find me I'll be either in Warbirds FH, IL2 Sturmovik (ubi.com) or IL2 Forgotten battles.

you have been one of the most influencial ppl in ELH for me. you have always been one of the most potent guns in the mechwarrior community and it has been a pure pleasure to fight beside you and against you all these years.
about getting older, i think im starting to feel some of those effects as well, its a sad affiar when you need a 30 min nap when you get home to get your head strait LOL.
i hope to see ya in a mech once in awhile... who knows maybe then i can kick YOUR butt ;)

Ahh , You’ll be back Mal : ) I’ve said the same thing to myself several times , that I’m getting to old for this and I need to find out what life is like out side of Mech Warrior. Well I did , for about 9 months. Then I got bored with that and pulled the Mech cover off my Mech , crabbed the keys hanging and jumped started my Mech. It’s still not as fun as it used to be but Hey, What else is there to do ?

Funny thing is I was on last night (couldn't sleep).
The problem tends to be I'm never around when anyone else is or when everyone else is I'm doing other things. So rather than leave you all in suspense it's better for me to bow out and just join in on those occasions when I do see people online.
I also think it's time to renew my joystick (be my 5th saitek) as my deadzone has started to become noticeable in that when moving the stick I get nothing then whoosh, overshoot, which is playing serious hell with my accuracy (Most noticeable in IL2 which relies on superior fine control to hit shit).
But in any event I feel you are right in that I may return but at present MW4 has no real challenge for me, you can tell too quickly what everyone is carrying weapon wise and what they are going to do and the terrain is not varied enough to present a tactical challenge (Jump/Snipe is pretty much the norm and boring as hell). The most satisfactionn/adrenaline/feeling of being push to my limits in MW4 is in mass melee's (6+ people), otherwise generally at present I find myself bored with long range sniping and lose patience resulting in death charges and EoG.
One thing to consider if I do return after conquering IL2 is that because gunnery there is sooo complicated (Makes FH look piss easy Glas) I would rock at long range gunnery. (try predicting the flight path of a plane travelling on an opposite vector to you with a closure speed of 800kph and a convergence set to 200yards giving you a firing window of roughly 0.2 of a second to hit also taking into account for slippage, turbulence and shell drop, Time to Target and rounds per minute, in summary I can't hit shit yet but I'm getting close)

Mal I have IL2 also, had it for a few months now. Funnily enough, i done quite well in it when i first started playing it, but lost interest cos it is just too damned realistic.
Ive been wondering about my joystick. I need to try it on another machine running any OS that isnt XP to see how it works. I dont think its the stick, its only about 3 months old and 'feels' good in every way. But when i go to the calibration screen and start moving it, the crosshair just jumps all over the box and hardly resembles the actual stick movements.
I have a 98SE disk, does anyone know anything about putting dual boots on a HD? How hard is it to explain to an idiot? Is it just a case of partitioning your HD (which I havent a clue how to do either but thats a different matter) then loading 98SE on to the partitioned part?
Maybe i shouldnt even think about going going down this road

Glas, try these: http://www.saitek.com/uk/supp/2000xpmenu.htm I have them installed on the other PC (WinXP home) and they seem ok although the hat problem in FH has come back.

Thanks Mal but I used them at first and had the same Hat problem. Then i used the SD1.7 version drivers from Saitek and they solved it, no probs. But since I downloaded the new(est) version of FH my stick has gone mental :roll:
The SD1.7 drivers werent actualy very good but they done the job, for a bit. Now, despite many reinstalls of the software the stick just wont behave. I really liked that stick too....
