Started on South side in a massive forest with a large lake on left flank. Moved into trees thinking to make him come in and fight in the trees. The Cappies charged on in and took the hills in the center of the map. Made the tactical error by letting him hold that hill for the entire fight, His 9Q rained PPC shots down on me. The Cappies have developed a new bendable PPC that shoots over hills and bends to hit targets. NAIS has been notified. Forest fires were started to give smoke cover, by the end of the battle at least one entire map board was on fire...Smokey is not pleased and the tree huggers are pissed. Once the fire got out of hand....I decided to roll to the right and attack around his flank. The forest slowed me down badly and my poor Caesar endured many PPC and LRM shots as it tried to get under cover. Once I got to the end of the ridge and ready to engage, a Cappie Sha Yu came around the end with 2 swarms of BA. The Sha Yu got a shot off...cant remember if it did much but it ate a LBX20 and a UAC20....it died twice, one scraping his engine and the other taking his head off. For the next few turns it was the attack of the BA's. The Cappie Wasp jumped in to harras my Caesar as he continued to move thru the forest. I made a bone head move, and it cost me my Victor, meanwhile I continued to pick off his BA troopers. He brought his Menshen into the mix and it combined with lots of PPC and missles took down my Saggitire which really had not done much but kill BA troopers. So Davions are down a Vic and Saggie and CapCon is down 3 BA including one poor soul that got a Hatchet to the dome....he made a nice red smear on the blade, and a Sha Yu. Next to go down was the Wasp, I think it took a LBX20 to the back. The Menshen decided to bail out and get back to his lines but left a back shot to the Caesar and it's Hvy Gauss. The resulting nickle plated ennema cored the Menshen and it died with a large hole in his butt. Thru all of this the CapCon forces still has a pristine Awesome and a Apollo and Hurrion Warrior that had barely been touched. This left me with a delema, how to dislodge the high ground firepower of the CapCon. After coring a charging Swiftwind, the Hurrion Warrior made a big move to flank the Davion left. It was a good thing my Caesar had it covered and after 2 Hvy Gauss slugs, the Warrior was down and it's pilot knocked out. Next fire turn....a 3rd Hvy Gauss prevented the pilot from ever waking up as his mech blew up as it's engine exploded. I next jumped my Axeman in close on the Awesome and brought the Caesar to bear. The CapCon mechs blew the arms and LBX20 off the Axeman while the Caesar scored with a Hvy Slug on the Awesome. Enraged at getting hammered, the Axe jumped at the Awesome in a defiant DFA.......and missed. He crashed to the ground but did succeed in displacing the Awesome and Apollo, but lost a leg doing it and had both arms blown off so he was out of it. The Caesar, having only 3 Hvy Slugs left rounded the corner to do what he could. He got 2 more hits with the Hvy Gauss but died under the PPCs and LRMs from the Cappie mechs. Spooky 21 fled once all the Davion mechs were dead.

All in all a good game. I should have gone "Offensive" sooner, but a fun match.

CapCon After action report:
This was a long battle, and a highly anticiapted match, as the Pride of Sian faced down and destroyed the Davion scum. The map was a boon to me, altho B's initial deployment worried me...he set up in heavy forest, with his Swiftwinds on the flank. I advanced to the center map, which held a 2 mountains, one large, and one slightly smaller. my Menshen, Sha Yu and Wasp then advanced, while my Huron, Awesome and Apollo took a spot on the mountain. The huron drew first blood, and the first kill, killing the first swiftwind. After that, the swiftwinds stayed out of the business of their betters. I wanted to concentrate on the caesar, and managed to for a turn or two, until his saggy and other mechs started staying put. Somehow, my awesome proved its might, but not just firing down onto Buffalo, but firing thru a mountain. My Apollo and Huron did too, but they weren't firing PPCs...thats right, PPCs, not ERs. Firing 4-4-4-3 makes the Awesome an incredible weapons platform. I lost my Sha Yu to his Axeman rather early, pissing me off. As some of you might know, a pissed off Scot is a dangerous thing. I used my Fa Shih against him, which tied up his mechs for 6 or 7 yurns, and as they used flamers, his heat levels rose, as he endeavored to kill the BA and my Wasp, which began jumping in and kicking at mechs. Then two turns occurred that gave me the game. He jumped his Victor and axeman into holes, and I only needed 6s to hit. Alpha! The Victor and axeman took some damage, but nothing vital...until he jumped them into the shadow of the levle 6 hill he was hiding behind. Vic took four PPC shots to the back, including one to the head, whoich critted his cockpit and sensors. Saggy was next, as my unholy trinity concentrated on it, killing it in a few turns...it slaughtered a great deal of my BA, but the BA tied it up. My Wasp and remaining BA played cat and mouse with his axeman for a bit, then his ceasr, then the axeman again...the wasp lost the ERML, but earned an alpha nonetheless, while my Menshen has come around the mounrtain and was firing at the caesar...with the Fa Shih mostly gone, and no fire support, I decided to get the menshen out, MASCing and running...the caesar managed to give me an HGR enema, with the HGR hiting my prisitne CTR at 4 hexes . The axeman killed the last Fa Shih suit after that...where upon I proclaimed since I had done all the attacking thus far, I was staying put, but advanced my huron anyway. At this point, a swiftwind tried sneaking in the back, and the Huron killed it too. His Axeman jumped the mountain, into range of all my mechs, but the huron fired on the caesar, and got an HGR in return, destroying the right arm, and making him fall, which knocked him out . The Huron died that next turn, but the axeman failed his DFA roll, and took massive damage. He fell and was unable to stand, due to a gyro hit. I concentrated on him, and the caesar scored an HGR hit that stripped the armour off one arm. Next turn, my Apollo ran up the the caesar, firing its last two LRM rounds, and the awesome alpha'd killing it...had a scare when the HGR hit and an ERML hit me head, and then together my mechs killed the prone Axeman and the swiftwind fled. Damn good game, and I showed Buffalo that attacking is much more danagerous than defending, as his HGR was in med range.

Thanks for that excellent recap. I am dying to try MegaMek sometime. I am quite familiar with BattleTech so I guess I would pick it up pretty fast, other than learning the controls & routine. I am used to playing with 3-D terrain & figures, plus we use simultaneous movement. If anyone has a game going on with comms & can let an observer in, I would appreciate a chance to watch.
