MSI GF4 4200 (Retail).....Is this a good deal?

Post by Softball »

Check out this MSI Geforce4 TI 4200-8x 128MB bundle (for $172.00) I found while searching the web. Is this a good deal? The "Official" MSI web site(See link below) says it is bundled with 10 highly valuable games and other software, so I am assuming the MSI Retail Box package listed here will include those games as well? This particular bundle comes with A LOT of other goodies too. Check it out:

Site I found:
MSI GF4 TI 4200 8x 128MB

"Official" MSI GF4 4200 info:
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/vga/ ... 4200-VTD8X

Does this sound like a pretty good deal? I am very tempted to get this. Please advise.

I would not count on the games being in the package you found. It is listed exactly the same as on the MSI site, with the exception of the games. Other question: Are you REALLY going to play those games??? Maybe sell them on ebay?

You can always ask them if the games come with it...

If it helps at all, I've got the MSI nVidia GeForce3 Ti200 128MB DDR card. I've never even taken the free games outta the slips. Also, the "MSI Clock" function on the control panel always locks up, and doesn't let me overclock. However, with the new nVidia drivers, the GeForce panel with all of the D3D settings still work fine.

However, I can't figure out a F4 problem I've got. The fonts are blurry, and the cockpit is cracked with lines. I've seen the problem asked and fixed on Frugal's World, but nothing there leads to a solution for me. Its still cracked and blurry no matter what I do. Any suggestions?

i don't know if this helps or even if i got a good buy, but a couple of weeks ago i bought a PNY GeForce 4 TI 4600 128 DDR for $245 including shipping.

Using PriceWatch i found GeForce 4 TI 4200 128 DDR's from Abit, Chaintech and Gainward for sale in the 140's.

Going to wait

I have decided to wait for the GeForce FXs to hit the streets. I may pickup a GeForce FX or maybe the GF4 4600 TI 128MB because the prices I'm sure will drop drastically after the FXs are released. Hopefully the FXs are out around the time LOMAC is released.
