Hiya guys, long time no see! Sorry I bunked off without much warning, I actually went and found myself a life after M$ done their best to ruin mechy.

I waited around to see if I could hear of some improvement, but it looks to me like the game has died. I was moving house recently (got a promotion in work, so got my own flat at long last) so I took the decision to punt the computer since it was lying in a corner gathering dust.

Unfortunately, it means that I doubt I will ever be able to play online again as I have no intention of getting another computer. Ive found better things to spend my hard earned cash on, like booze, women, more booze, more women, condoms and a hangover cure

Okay im exaggerating, forget the women and condoms, its all been spent on booze :gulp:

So how is everyone doing in here these days? I noticed there isnt too many new posts since my last visit some months ago, so I guess things have pretty much died here also. Most people playing GR now? I can see the attraction, if I went back to gaming I would take GR before mechy any time. I suppose all good things must come to an end, although it was goddamn good while it lasted!

Lancer, how is the mad squad? Wiz, Moose, Beo, Ronin, MD and anyone else ive missed? Hope you guys are all as mad as ever! Ive missed the banter since ive been away, but sometimes it gets to a point where you have been away so long your not sure what to say when you come back, so ive just slunk in to the background and checked the forums every once in a while to make sure no one has been hit with any disasters or bad news.

Btw, my email has changed. Someone flooded my hotmail with so much crap it got to the stage I couldnt use it any more, so I actually bought a new addy, paul@festivals.co.uk. Easy to remember so seemed worth the £20!

And how is everyone else? Crick, Fethr, I see you guys about the forums. What about BH, Slam, Buff, etc? Hope everything is okay with everyone over the pond, its been too long since i dropped in to ask. :-?

Anyway, if you havent done it already, you might as well remove me from the roster and my rights to post in the Mess Hall etc. I'll still stick around and post in here every now and again if that's okay, just to keep up to date with you all. Apart from posting from work, I dont see me being online again at any point in the future. Ah well....

Things are a bit slow here. But we are still kicking around in places. Not sure if this will make you feel any better but I am on the Beta Test team for the un-offical MekTek Mercs addon. The Maruader is as tough as the Thor and looks uber cool. Other stuff is very improved, the heat is much more user friendly. We are waiting on the 1st addon to the main beta patch, there was a security issue that had to be fixed 1st. Once we get that we can really get into the nuts and bolts of the beta, but so far I'd say they have fixed a lot of stuff. Also we are finding that a lot of "Hey i hit you and you took no damage: stuff is actually large holes in the hit-boxes on the models and that even the Vengence mechs have gaping holes.

Good to hear from you.Was actually thinkin bout you guys "over there" a ways back. The Wife and I got a date night, so we went out to eat. There's a little transplanted pub here in Tulsa that I'd been dying to try. It really was pretty accurate, with the exception of a few menu items and the beer of course. Wife thought I was getting all teary eyed, cuz I was enjoying her company so. I didn't have the heart to tell her I was thinkin bout how my old wings might be doing.
I've needed a format for the past few months, but little time nor inclination to climb those stairs, so I've been doin the forum warrior thing. BH is MIA, we figure we'll hear from him 'bout tax time next year. Slam is still workin for the gubment, full time. Mince was playing till 3 AM the other night. He took the Jumpy Thor and spanked some assaults. I don't know when the last time was that he and I sat through lunch talkin about the previous night's drops.
All are fine that are still here, near as I can tell. LK seems to have found his way back, and there are probably other bright spots I'm unaware of.

Not dead, exactly. Seems Microsoft has abandoned it, but the MekTek guys are working on adding new mechs - including the previously 'unseen' Marauder - which, for a while anyway, will give the game something of a booster shot.

Speaking of booze, see if ya can find some Fraoch Heather Ale on tap over there somewhere.

Damn glad to hear from you but sorry to hear that you're giving up Mechy. However, your lfe and blood pressure will likely be better off without the computer. Just don't turn your liver into a stone in just a fortnight, OK?

I've thought about you a few times over the past few months and I figured that you had moved on to other things. It sounds like you've been doing well over that time and that's great news. It has been pretty quiet around here, esp. since Slam got called up. However, we've had a few drops against OA and they were pretty fun, if not brief. They whomped us on like the first 4 meetings we had with them, but the handful of us that have been around have turned the tables on them in the last 3 drops. I wrote one of them up in the Saloon if you would ever feel the need for some Mech fiction. I haven't gotten in on the GR games as I figure I don't need another game to eat up my time. Besides, I get my shooting fix by playing Unreal Tournament with some friends. I know it's nothing near the realism of GR but we have a lot of fun- a work buddy has his apartment wired up with like 5 machines so it's a blast. I've wanted to get into IL-2 but never made the time, and now that they have a new version out, I guess I will just let that go for now.

It was a pleasure knowing you here and I always appreciated having your skill there to save my arse. Good luck in all that you do. <S>

Fethr, ive been missing you too man. Nice to know you still care Seriously tho, good to see you still kicking around mate. It's been too long for sure since we chatted on icq. Or anywhere else for that matter.

It's funny but reading your posts reminds me of the laughs we used to all have, I didnt realise how much I actually missed you lot. Firemane, many excellent fights spring to mind, I used to love winging with you. Bio, good to see you around again mate, we didnt get dirt side too often together but when we did, it was always fun! Same with you Falker, although we did have some good chats in Kali and stuff. All seems so long ago now. Btw how is old Painy these days? Still as mad as a brush I imagine. I wouldnt mind getting a chance to speak to him again. If anyone bumps in to him in the near future, tell him I was asking for him.

Good to see also that you guys are keeping busy in Mechy and continuing to kick ass. Buff, you sound like your enjoying your work at mektek. I hope it all goes well, for your sake and for the whole MW community. It's about time someone put M$s f*ck-ups to rights, I suppose we could always trust mektek to be the guys that actually do something about it.

Anyway, I will keep in touch more often than I have been. Im looking forward to catching up on some of the stories in the Saloon. Hell, I might even write a 'leaving' story if I get a chance :-)
