Well there comes a time,…. when you have absolutely nothing better to do. So maybe you could drop by the Forum and post one up. Hmmmm what to say .... ...... err , maybe !? nah , umm , … hmmmm. ......
On the brighter side ,.. I’m getting ready to do some fishing . Either on the pier near the ocean ( cuz I get sea sick out in the swells ) or talk my brother into taking me out trolling on the fresh water lakes near by. The Suns out down here in So Cal. It’s been Blazing Hot all this last week. A little taste of what’s to come I’m sure.
They recently built a new freeway right up the street here that allows me to make much better time driving over to the pier at the Las Angeles Harbor. The last time I went there I hooked me a Halibut on my fresh water pool ( Woohoo ! ) but I lost it when it came to the surface because I didn’t have a triple hook on my rig. Halibut mouths appear to be a bit soft and you need more then just a single hook to bring them up out of the water or on deck. I’m looking forward to some more of that . Something about being at the beach is kind of therapeutic and satisfying even if you don't catch any fish. Maybe It’s the Surf , The Seagulls , The Sun , the Ladies wearing G-Strings , .. well… maybe not in that order.
Get your Gardens ready. I built three gardens in our back yard and have just turned over the soil this last week. I’m getting ready to plant some more shrub again soon . Spring will be upon us shortly and now’s the time to get prepared for it. (tip) try Tomato 100 , they are better than Cherry tomatoes. Tomato 100 goes better added to your Salads ( with Flame Broiled BBQ Steaks on the side ) and are about the same size as grape tomatoes but are circular shaped.
Another (tip) Get your Pumpkin seeds in sooner then later. If you want BIG pumpkins by Oct-31st . One pumpkin plant is all you'll need to get a good flourish spreading all over the place. It could grow out of control if you do it right. Make sure it’s in a tall dirt mound and has plenty of sun light AND water it 3 times a week. I’m growing two types of Pumpkins this year. The smaller squirt you could place on your dash board of your truck , and the big 10 pounder that’s for show.
Get your corn in by late April early May , It should be knee high by July. Reattaches are the easiest to grow. Plant the seeds and watch them grow in a matter of weeks. Big Beef tomatoes are also cool. They call them that because they are one of the largest Beefy tomatoes weighing in and a good ½ pound. Green Bell Peppers grow well with summer heat. Poll beans ( or peas ) also like the heat. Strawberries are good to go as well. ( certain onions and carrots take a long time are kind of hard to grow. )
Well have fun all. Summer will be here before you know it. I mentioned the garden thing because you should try it. Eating food that you brought to life is kind of neat. It’s also something else to take charge and be proud of.

Falker,
Sounds like you have been busy! Please let us know if you get to go fishing and if you catch anything.
It's a bit early to start plantinghere in KY but we are getting the bug to be outside. Actually, we have a windy cold night here that will likely take us below freezing again. Most planting around here doesn't happen until the danger of frost is completely gone- thats around Derby Day (first Saturday in May). My wife has been working to construct some above ground beds for raising vegetables so we will be ready. I've also seen the bluebirds arrive as they have been perching on the fenceline behine our house. I need to get the birdhouse out so they will check it out & maybe stay to lay some eggs.
I was happy to find several ELH online and playing Mechy last night. I hadn't been around for a couple of weeks so it was nice to hear their voices & get in a few drops on the open NBT server. I didn't do particularly well but it was still fun.

I've been out - with my new pruning saw, axe, hatchet, and machete - cleaning this place up! The fences were overgrown but it's mostly stuff coming from the neighbors' yards. I've been here nearly three years and have not done much about the rampant vegetation cuz the landlord said he'd take care of it - but he hasn't, and since I'm about to buy the place I figure it's up to me now. No mercy! No quarter! Whack! Slash! Chop!Firemane wrote:It's a bit early to start plantinghere in KY but we are getting the bug to be outside.
Shucks, I was online yesterday afternoon, but I've got company so I didn't stay on long.Firemane wrote:I was happy to find several ELH online and playing Mechy last night.
