not related to mw but to real world...

Post by Biobod »

Hi all, this has nothing to do with mw or ELH or any league...and probably i have no bussines writing this here, but to the real world. If you were watching the news you probably saw the thing about the american civilian beheded in iraq. Well...i saw the video of it...and i am a little bit to say the least disturbed...guys there are thing in this life that we should not see and i probably saw one of them, but like those Toyota tv-adds"you asked for it...you git it...".
Why do i write this?....i have no idea only that its 1:20 am and i am like i said earlier very diturbed after looking at the video...i fact i had to turn away and close my eyes. This might pick the curiosity of some...i would advice against it. Jeez i think i am rambling and i must sound like a wuss.
Again sorry to bring this here.
Take care all.

All the outrage over the abuses at Abu Ghraib is heartening, in that it shows the world has not given up altogether on the idea of imposing some standards of decency. Now if only we would give up the idea that nothing more than barbarism is to be expected of Arabs and Muslims - WSJ

I think that sums it up although I'd have said Jihaists and terrorists not Arabs and Muslims.

YMMV

Well Bio, i dont think your a wuss or anything...

sometimes, if you have had a decent life and in a way been protected against what i would only discribe as 'true evil' in the world. something like this helps a person realize exactly what they do have in life... it is very disterbing that a human can do something like that to another person.

My wife at one time wanted depseratly to be a profiler or work in phorensics of some kind. for some reason i knew in my heart that she is not the personality type for such a thing but my wife is one of those type of ppl who felt she was drawn to it and could do it no matter what i thought or why i thought it. so trying to show her about some of the gruesomeness of the world i rented faced of death video.. well needless to say she changed her mind. but i think the important thing is now she realized how ugly the world could be. she is looking at getting into something to help ppl instead. something that preserves life or the betterment of life.. i think seeing that ugliness changed her that way.. some ppl have the fortitude to deal with such things. i have to say im not one of them... but what crosses my mind every time i think of the evil out there just around the corner is how we got men and wemon who fight this evil to defend those of us who live in ignorant bliss.

ive always have had the most deepest respeact for those of you who are military, firefighters.. police officers etc... its becuse of you ppl that we are not exposed to such things on a daily basis and protect and help us when something truely ugly slips threw.

Am I the only one (and I might be) that when they 1st saw those pictures of the Al Qedea types stacked like cordwood and that one on the leash.....I laughed out loud. I mean hell you can order the same type of images (I perfer females my self, with big hooters) off the web for a monthy subscription. Then in the next instant....I said awww shit here we go. I knew this would be (and it is) used for polictical gain from those who have been shitting bricks over all this for over a year now. I'm angry that someone dis-honored the uniform that my friend Slammy and many other wear. But really in the great scheme of things I am more upset at the outrage that is driving the news cycles since this was aired on CBS. I shed zero tears for the prisoners in that cell block (block 1 and 1A) who are not random Iraqies rounded up for whatever, they are the hardened Baathists and peeps coming in from all those peaceful nations that border Iraq. If it was up to me I'd have their balls hooked up to field telephone in order to get info. I find it interesting that around the time these photos were taken, road side bomb attacks numbered 70 the moth prior.....since then....about 10. Hmmm...could it be that the intel guys were able to get the info needed to take down the bomb making hideouts and all that? Looks like it works. But it's not up to me to decide how to extract intel from these bastards. Futhermore, equating some dude on a leash or stacked up like cord wood to pining a dudes arms behind his back (elbows together) and hanging him from the ceiling till his shoulders dislocate is plain stupid. Is it immasculating to the Arab man? Yes. But how is it different from the 3rd ID's run thru Bagdad (we all watched it on TV at the time) where the lead vechiles has loud speakers blaring out affronts to Iraqi male manhood whereby the Iraqi would get pised off and loose his mind over the challenge to his manhood and stand up from his ambush location and take on an Abrams or Bradley with a AK47? Yes these pictures are humiliating to the manhood of these amimals and combined with crummy food, no sleep, and Barney the Purple Dinosaur theme 24/7 appears to get results. They are however, not tourcher (sp?)

Maybe that makes me a bad person to think like this. but who out there, after watching that guy get his head sawed off, didnt want to see those 5 guys hung from a lamp post by their balls? And if the "moral outrage" over the abuse photos are not being hammered into us 24/7 for polictical reasons......where is the coverage of the beheading? buried in the back sections or not covered at all. That guy was put down in brutal fashion so some jihadists could get their rocks off and get some air time. His death is tragic. The spin on the other hand is sickening.

my 2 cents......YMMV

Yeah, I can see your point, but here's another spin.

"Hello down-trodden Iraqi people, we Americans are here to free you from a sadistic self serving tyrant! If we happen to find weapons of mass destruction, that's great. Our main purpose though, is to give you the freedom from oppression you so richly deserve, regardless of what anybody else may say. We will help you rebuild what has been destroyed, and help you establish a fair and just government. If it happens to be a bit more friendly to western influence and culture than the last regime, that's great too, isn't it? We wish only to return humanity to the seat of humanity. No longer will your people have to fear torture or inhumane treatment in your prisons."

Why didn't the drag em over to Guantanamo Bay? I mean, Hell, we've been doing that kind of stuff there for 2 years now. Ain't nobody been all THAT worried about a bunch of terrorists in Cuba. I'm sure there are all kinds of levels to this whole thing. We could do volumns of posts covering the various arguments for and against. It's all just politics, which is why you really have to look hard at the people you vote for. You really have to wonder about somebody running for public office knowing they could have a mess on their hands like this someday. It's a shame we don't have any fellas 30 years older on the team. I'd like to hear how much this is turning out like Vietnam in the public perspective. Was Vietnam wrong or bad? It's all history now, and someday, so will this. Maybe this time, we'll get to write the history.

All I want is for the Iraqi governmet to get up and running as scheduled, and get our people home where they belong. I'm sick and tired of hearing about our folks getting killed, and then something like this fouls the waters even more. I know, I know, but then, I'm a idealist.

The really anoying thing is that the USA has to say"im sorry"(and rightly we do) because some a-holes did something stupid(and many in the world are like "see the americans...they are bad")..and hell will freze over before we hear an apology from for what happened to those 4 civies in Falluya or for Nick Berg. What they did to him...is the most brutal thing i have ever seen...and many in the world dont care...because he was an american and he deserved it just by being that. Sometimes it makes you wonder why in the world do we care about what happens in the world.
Like i said i am very upset about this...the arab world and(this is still a surprise to me) Europe forget about dual morality or remember it just to put down the US, editorials everywere and comentators...but if our position is proven right(fighting this bastards, not talking crap at the UN) well all you get is minimal reporting.
A friend of mine told me that when you see something like what happened to Nick Berg(and the others that have been killed) you lose a little of your humanity...i think its true. If in a conversation i sometimes would say over the top things...but thats talk not who i am or what i belive as a cristian . But i am still human and i think i lost a little compassion or tolerance towards people like them.

It’s late , I just was relieved from work 15 minutes till 12:00 am. , got home and am still thinking about this post. I grabbed a cold one before I came in and feel more relaxed now and wanted to try and say something positive here.

Only thing that comes to mind is , I’m sorry you watch it. I saw the guy on TV just before it happened and I think I might get decussated and then mad about it if I were to watch it happen. Thankfully I didn’t see it and can only imagine what went down. I feel for his Family and Friends that might have saw it. I hope it wont devastate their lives.

You do have friends here that listen . Hopefully it will be that way for a long time to come.

Regards Falker

PS. With Respect , This post started out as a remembrance to the Honored Soldiers that died trying to maintain world peace. Please keep in check until a new thread is added for how we all feel about what’s going on over there. I'd like to get my 2 cents in too :)
