Never a Dull Moment
It was Monday morning, around 1:30 AM, when I was awakened by the sound of screeching tires and wailing police sirens. When it became evident that the vehicles with the sirens blaring were nearby and not going anywhere anytime soon, I got out of bed and went to the front door. Just down the street (one house down, in fact) were four or five law enforcement vehicles - city police, best I could determine, and a sherrif's vehicle. And just up the street sat a State Police cruiser.
Of course, my first thought was "WTF!" Keen observation on my part soon revealed that this plethora of law enforcement officers were not there to arrest and/or apprehend anyone from the neighborhood (even though the young man directly across the street had allegedly spent some time in jail just last week). As I maintained my vigil, I observed the arrival and subsequent departure of a taxi - it actually came and went a couple of times. Very curious. Then, about forty minutes after the initial screeching of tires and wailing of sirens, a large tow truck appeared, and shortly thereafter departed with a red SUV in tow. At that point I went back to bed.
Next day I spoke to a friend who's a retired State Police detective. When I mentioned the taxi, he said that usually meant, as they say in GTA, "Suspect on foot". Turns out he was correct. Later I spoke to one of the neighbors (a police car had slid to a halt in his front yard, narrowly missing a telephone pole on the way in). He said the police had informed him that they'd chased the red SUV all the way from Nicholasville (about 30 miles north of here) and that the driver had managed to escape on foot after ditching his vehicle just across the street (evidently that was the source of the screeching tires, as there's a long line of skid marks leading up to where the red SUV was parked).
Anyway, there's been no information regarding the incident in the local papers or TV news, so I don't know why the police were chasing the red SUV.

O-kay...
I was sitting in my living room, just a few minutes ago, watching TV, when I heard shouting outside. I got up to look and - guess what? - there are two city police cars and an unmarked police car there in the street, just about in the same spot they were in last Monday. Only this time, they *were* after someone who lives on this street, namely, that selfsame previously arrested young man mentioned in the post above. He was the one doing all the yelling. He was screaming at his girlfriend (who's in a wheelchair) "You ain't never had no _______ panic attack! I'm having a panic attack! A panic attack, ___ ____ it!"
By this time there were several other residents of this street standing out on their porches observing the proceedings. The officers put the young man in the back of one of the police cars. The young man didn't like this. He began to yell "Don't put that ___ ____ seat belt on me! I don't want that ___ ____ seat belt on me, you ______ _______!" Among other things.
Surprise, surprise, the officers got him out of the vehicle, but this brought him no relief. He continued to yell about various things. Shortly thereafter two of the officers started walking him (he was handcuffed) towards another police car I'd not seen before, parked waaaaay up by the intersection at the north end of the street. The young man continued to yell and curse in an extremely loud voice, but otherwise went along peacefully.
Those of us watching were left to wonder why the police removed him from the first police car and marched him all the way up the street to the other police car. Perhaps its safety belts were more comfortable...

Sometime around 15 years ago we were awoken one night by a loud screech and CRASH, followed by the sound of many cars. An hour or so later the doorbell rang. The police were there to inform us that while being pursued, a stolen car had smashed into my mother's car in the driveway and then raced off. There were deep ruts in the front yard as he'd tried to slow down, leading up to the smashed side of her car. The tracks made a sharp turn at that point and went back out of the yard and down the street.
My parents house was on a corner on the inside, so cars coming down that street were headed right at the garage of the house. This guy was going who knows how fast, and started to turn, but failed to actually do it on the street. Had my mother's car not been there to absorb the impact, he would've barrelled straight into our living room!

 Yeah, guess I did'nt think of that...bummer. The next day we went to Jack Keen's place, he owns the camp and told him what was going down. The camp is supposed to be for Christian organizations and he said that he was under the impression that they were Christian, at least that is what they told him. However, when he went out to see what was going on, he discovered that they had turned his camp into a nudist/pagan worship colony. I'm sure they got a rise outta practicing their anti-christian values at a Christian institution.
