Three Hours to Kill

Post by Tach Deneva »

Had to take my mom to Lexington today for TWO, count em, TWO doctor's appointments, with a three hour 'intermission' between them. Whee. So anyway, we went to Willcutt Guitar Shoppe, which was just down the street from the 2nd Doctor's office. I was hoping they'd have one of the new Eric Johnson Stratocasters - and sure enough, they did. So I tried it out (for the better part of an hour), and I was very impressed.

The one I tried had the two-color sunburst finish; I was hoping they'd have one with the white blonde finish, but alas, they didn't. So I thanked them for letting me try it and we went on to the next appointment.

But I kept thinking about that guitar... cuz it was the best sounding Stratocaster I've played since I sold my old '75 hardtail back in '93...

So after the last appointment I went back to Willcutt Guitar Shoppe and bought it.

The guitar, that is, not the guitar shoppe. Anyway, I love my Les Pauls, but there's nothing quite like a good Strat.

Yes. RUN!

Heh. Twenty years ago I sorta kinda almost knew my way around in Lexington, but now... aiee! Aside from taking my mom to see her doctors there, the only places I ever go in Lexington are Willcutt Guitar Shoppe, Carl's Music Center, and The Rusty Scabbard (games and hobby stuff). Hey, you might like the Scabbard - it's off Harrodsburg Road in a little shopping center behind Turfland Mall. Oh yeah, there's a pretty good book store in Lexington Green (on Limestone) called Joseph Beth. And of course there's the Liquor Barn (two locations - Harrodsburg Road and Richmond Road) for alcohol from all over the world. Try the Fraoch Heather Ale!
