Grifter's WOF FILM released

Post by Grifter »

Put my WOF film up on this ftp server.

ftp://72.16.232.75/

File name is WOFFILM.wmv

Don't know if it's cool to post the login and password to this FTP here, and I'm not sure if you need it anyway. But if you do, and you're a member of WOF, you can access that info under the Server Forum: thread entitled WOF FTP SERVER, on page three I believe. Hope you guys like it.

Very nice work Grifter!! Two Thumbs up!

After watching that, I forgot how fun Joint Ops is. I especially liked the Motorcycle riding scenes. 8)

I have the latest version of FRAPS (2.6.3), maybe I'll make a few movies myself. 8) Just gotta find the space on my HD, the Fraps movies are HUGE!!

If you get the registered version of FRAPS, the video clips are compressed and much smaller in size.

Thanks guys. Nice to know people liked it. :-)

well i have a registered version and let me tell you...those files took over BOTH my HDs. I had to do the film in segments. Fill up my HD to the brim with glorious footage....watch and edit with microsoft movie maker....boil it down to what was going to make the final "Rough" cut. Make the rough cut film...erase all the fraps files. Fill up my HD again.. repeat process. With the rough cut done, I could get rid of the fraps files entirely and edit that film solely. Working with 50 mbs is much easier than 50 gigs!

Mine is the registered version. I don't see anywhere in the program that allows you to change the file sizes or media types. This version makes a fully uncompressed AVI format video.

I have a program that I "borrowed" from work called Pro Coder 2.0, it can convert any video to any format available. Once I get my new Multimedia video editing computer hooked up to my network, I'll transfer the videos there and work on that computer. I have 500G of HD space to play with on there.

So, just as a general guide, what kind of storage space are we talking about here for the sake of recording, editing a video of what length at what quality level? If you don't mind my asking that is.

Eats hd space like it was candy

You can make a fraps vid of any length

quality is meh....but not bad for novices like me and you. What your monitor sees is what it sees.

What I'm thinking is that for your next video, should there be one, you could employ different people to do the capturing while the normal crews fly their planes or control their FPS characters during some realtime game play. You would then be able to collate then edit. It would save you doing everything. It could be put together video clip by video clip I suppose. Mind you I don't know about getting the clips to you, would it be best to send on a DVD format disc? maybe this isn't really viable, but you prob know better than me.
Anyway, nice vid, mate.

By the way, do you remember the music track that came along with that now famous LO-MAC video? Now that is some fairly decent music to use for a soundtrack or partial soundtrack. I went out and purchased the full CD by Nightwish, it's not bad either.

Yeah Kodiak,

This first film was my baby and I wanted to do it alone so that I complete autonomy and control over the project. It was my tribute to the squad, my friends, that has kept me playing for the last four years. Indeed, it was truly my labor of love.

However, now that I've done that I know the next one I will be calling on folks who have a way of recording our exploits to do so in order to make my work go a lot easier. I can't possibly do this again on my own, it's way too time consuming. I spent 30 hours on it easily, probably more. I know one sunday I did nothing else but work on this for 12 hours straight.

I know Nightwish's work and he's really quite good in the video game sound track scene, he's well respected from what I understand...that is...if he's the guy I'm thinking of. Anyway. I will check out his CD and maybe use it in the next film. I think I'll make another film next winter or spring. Perhaps a bit sooner if ppl start compiling stuff for me. You could just record it, convert it into a wmv file and then said the wmv to me via msn or icq. slow but effective.

Let me have a word with a few people, if I can get my hands on the right software, I'll happily do some recording for you.

Why does this require a password to download it? Is this a secret film?

Softball,
Does pro coder convert Interplay's .mve format? not just the sound, but the video as well?

not working right now. i can see the files, but i get server not found when i try to download it, or explorer just tries and finally times out. if i had i i could put it on a REAL server... ;) :P

i will try command line ftp and see if that makes a difference.

EDIT: looks like it might be the two firewalls and passive ftp thing. tell Raptor he should set up an http server and a directory that is not passworded for folks to just download...or use rlgaming?
