This a true story from my home town, on a piece of shore where we as children were regularly taken to swim/bathe in the bay's shallow waters and make fires to boil the kettle and cook food. Our parents would collect mussels for eating and so on. these days, you'd think twice about getting in the water at all! The pollution has become almost intolerable.
