Finally got a copy of BF2 today after the local Game store dropped iot in price, so used my vouchers and got it for nothing more than the cost of a 5 minute walk NICE!

Cool! 8) There's nothing quite like a freeby, eh?! I agree with your sentiment there Steel regarding mods. Usually there are a hundred and one reasons why some people DON'T get what we all want to get as a group. But most of the time it boils down to money. When it was GR or Falcon4, the mods were free, so everyone managed to stay compatible generally didn't they? I think the only way to keep that level of compatability is to have those who make the jump sooner rather than later with a purchased upgrade/mod should have a dual install of some nature. Just mt 2cents . . . .

mods are free - expansions are not. remember GR had 3 expansions, but the deal was when installed it did not make you incompatible with previous versions, as i recall. nowadays, it seems the expansions/followons make you incompatible with previous versions.

I noticed that expansion for BF2 on the shelves over here already. Not sure whether it's actually available yet, it may be that the box is on show so you can pre-purchase for release. :?
