Steel said something in another post that made me wonder just how many people in Wings of Fury actually have military experience under their belt.

I am Active duty Marine Corps, currently at the rank of Corporal, but planning to go much higher.

In my current life I have none but in my previous life I was a sturmbannfuhrer in the 5th SS Wiking Armored Division on the Eastern Front.

Please restrict responses to the your current real life in this dimension please. Nothing about passed, future, online, concurrent parallel dimensional, or second personalities experiences please.

In addition; unless you have hard fast proof that you tripped through a worm hole, and fought with some alien rebel resistance to take down an oppressive dictatorship in your current real life IN THIS DIMENSION on the other side of the galaxy, I also don't want to hear about it.

Falling back in time, to a land of evil and magic, having your hand lopped off and replaced with a chainsaw, and using only that and a shotgun to thwart evil, will also not count unless you have one hand, and you have hard and fast proof that it actually happened.

SGT USMC - Resigned

1988-1996, MOS 3043 (Supply)

I was in during the first Gulf War, but never left the CONUS. I also took courses in Motor Transport and was qualified to drive various military vehicles, to include the HUMVEE, Dragon (Tractor Trailer), Tractor Forklift, 5-Ton Truck, Medical HUMVEEs, and so on.

My duty stations included, Camp Lejune NC, 29 Palms CA, Bridegeport CA, USS Denver http://www.denver.navy.mil/Ship's_Info.htm , NAS/MCAS Miramar CA, and Camp Pendleton CA. My last duty station was in a supply unit at 29 Palms and was basically the COs personal taxi driver. I decided not to renew my contract because my CO would not promote me to SSGT, for which I was qualified for and there was an open billit. I said goodbye and have not looked back. I miss the friends I had but not the job.

I have some old pics somewhere, I'll post them here if I can find them.

LOL, Softball. I didn't know you were a 3043. I'm a 3043 too. I think about as much of the job as you do; I have a policy wherebY I find some way to get out of the office at least one day a week, and preferably more. Whether that be to go on a PME, some kind of run/convoy, working party, duty, or what have you, I get out as much as I can. :lol:

Small world eh Hudson? heh. The one thing I LOVED about being a 3043, was us supply types ALWAYS got the new gear first, the best MREs first, got to test out new equipment (ie Jungle Boots before they were standard issue, GRRRRR!). I still have, brand new in the box, a pair of 9 1/2-10 1/2 Black/Black Jungle boots that I was issued before I left back in 1996. I call them collectors items, lol.

I'll have to send you some money via Pay Pal or something so you can get me a couple sets of Green Camo Marpats (Hats included).

I served in both an elite light infantry unit and an elite armored cavalry unit, and in mechanized infantry battalions. I conducted many border tours during the cold war while in the 2nd ACR. I saw top secret cold war battle plans, and helped create/modify them. I saw transition from the M60 MBT to the M1 MBT. I saw transition from the M60 MG to the M249 SAW. I saw transition from the M16A1 to the M16A2. I served in leadership positions for two ranks above my own - twice.

The truth of the matter is that many people experience something of that nature during their childhood - but fail to speak out, or fail to be heard. During military college training the 'new' RSM seemed to have a habit of turning up "on duty" in his uniform, strangely enough he always ended up strutting through the washrooms, on every floor in every block!! :shock:
I made a point of speaking with my bro, who had a few connections his end (he spent a lot of time in NI, and other places, doing intel). Seems a certain, then Staff Sergeant, was placed under investigation for transportion of illegal pornographic material out of a previous post, where confiscated stashes from house raids are secured. Funnily enough, a large portion of that was 'young male' oriented. Shock - NOT!
So, we considered the best way to combat the problem was place the duty bunk at the corner of the building where he could be seen approaching from. Then call a shower alert using the fire alarm on manual test. Further to that we ensured he was unable to enter via any fire exit by policing the closed fire exit rule. I think he eventually sussed us out, by which time other companies were doing exactly the same thing. You have to ask yourself the question - why, if he'd been under investigation for something of that nature, had they seen fit to place him in a postion of authority at a military technical school, where there are up to 1000 young soldiers at any given time. Not to mention the advanced technical school (although a different unit), in the same camp!? :shock:

United States Navy, VAW-121. Did alot of time down in Panama apart of the anti-drug task force (what a joke that was), alot of good men died down there for nothing.
