A friend of mine, some of you know Gerry, brought me to the range last night. He's been getting into shooting as a hobby and encouraged me to come along. Honestly, I was a bit nervous, but I decided to give it a try anyway. He owns a Beretta 92FS. I was disappointed there was nothing a smaller, say a 22 cal., for a beginner like myself. Afterall, I did'nt want to do anything foolish and hurt myself or someone else, you know.
It turned out that I really enjoyed firing the 9mm. The recoil wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought it would be and the sights on this pistol were excellent. I scored two inside the black. Not bad for my first try, I thought. I did hit the target holder twice though. Anyway, I can see why some of you guys like going to the range. I think I might invest in getting my license. hmm.

Yes! A most excellent little weapon. My brother owns one, and has used it for some years now. He said he preferred it to the venerable Browning Hi-Power 9mm as a sidearm. And that would be quite an accolade given his then line of work. I've had the opportunity to fire it several times at the local range, and was quite impressed. I'm guessing I just feel more comfortable with the Browning myself though, owing to it's 'familiarity'. At the end of the day, a sidearm is a personal choice. You need to feel comfortable otherwise nervousness around a particular weapon can cause mistakes because you are not relaxed.
