Hey My mobo came with a live update for bios and drivers utils...any reason why it would be a bad idea to use this thing?

bios update is prolly o.k.

are all of your components working o.k.? if you go to device manager, does anything have a yellow caution sign? if not, you probably don't need the drivers. have you done windows update?

I went ahead and tried this and the way they do it is nice. They actually show a side by side comparison of what you have and what they have on the website for d/l. Nice. You can just compare the package types and and d/l accordingly. The only thing I did'nt like about MSI mobo so far was the instruction manual that came with it and the AMD Processor in a Box (PIB). The manuals were flimsy to say the least and someone with less informed friends to help him out (cough) would have most likely have screwed up his computer. This thing is nothing to brag about, but it is as fast if not a tad faster than my old Athlon xp 3200+...say about 10 seconds faster. ah well.

Well, with much promise of upgrade this summer, by the wife. I am hoping to put a decent set-up together myself. Don't want to be too far behind the curve, but to go to the leading edge is a bit of a waste too. So, a good balance between speed and price is what I am looking for - that sweet spot. But I definitely think I'll be moving up to PCI-e with SLI on this next one. Probably staying with nVidia and AMD too, just because I see them as a known quantity for me. Unless something spectacular comes along from Intel &/or ATI. And if I have sufficient spare dosh, I'll purchase a 10,000rpm SATA2 HDD, for that extra speed for gaming.
Still hoping to get my hands on that promised LRU casing, so I can build a decent cooled system how I want. We'll see how it all pans out.
